Negishi Forest Park was established in 1866 as the first permanent facility in Japan where Western-style horse racing was held and sponsored by a foreigner's club. It was the largest racecourse in the East and was always crowded with people until it closed in 1943 due to the war. It was later opened in 1977 as a forest park and featured a large lawn at its center. Come watch the four seasons pass with the changing foliage. The park becomes especially crowded during cherry blossom season.Negishi Park is a happening place during cherry blossom season, however, no matter what time of year you need to visit the Equine Museum of Japan. This museum is not only about history, but also houses the imperial carriage and many retired racehorses.

Situated in the Yamate area, next to our off-site private chapel, Yamate Helen Memorial Church. The former home of our hotel owner, The Rose Residence provides an at-home and personal environment that can host up to 70 guests.

This was the private residence of silk trader Mr. Ellisman and was built in 1926 at 127 Yamate-cho and designed by A. Raymond, the "Father of Modern Japanese Architecture" who profoundly influenced Japan's architectural world. While possessing elements of a foreign-style mansion, it also shows the influence of Raymond's mentor, F. L. Wright, such as an emphasis on the horizontal lines of the eaves. It was relocated and restored to its current location in Motomachi Park in 1990. The first floor features a reception room with a fireplace, a combined living and dining room, and a sunroom overlooking the garden furnished with pieces designed by Raymond, while the second floor houses an exhibition on Western-style houses in Yamate. The basement is available for rental as a free-use space and includes a tea room utilizing the former kitchen area.One of eight restored Western Houses in the Yokohama, Yamate area, this is most beautiful in autumn and during the Christmas season. Take a break in its lovely little cafe.

“Hana to Utsuwa no Harmony” is an early summer event that started in 2001. The event takes place at 7 Yamate Seiyoukans in Yokohama. The theme of 2017 was “Motenashino Hana Monogatari (hospitalities and stories of flowers) -- 7 Chapters --”. Seven coordinators arranged the flowers and tablewares of each Seiyoukans differently. (Theme is different each year)This event is not only about the decorations but paid workshops, such as flower arrangements. This 9-day event usually starts on the first Saturday of June and ends on the second Sunday of June.
