Yagura are square, horizontal caves dug into rock cliffs where tombstones housing bones of the deceased were erected for memorial services. They are unique structures built primarily in Kamakura and its surrounding areas from the late Kamakura period (1185-1333) to the early Muromachi period (1336-1573). The Mandarado Yagura Caves can be found on the historic Nagao Kishidori Pass, and boasts of one of the largest known clusters, comprising over 150 confirmed caves. Few other locations within Kamakura City offer such a concentrated view of well-preserved yagura. Enjoy the unique, spectacular view of the rows of caves spanning multiple layers.

Located on the peak of the gently-sloping Hiroyama, you can enjoy a view of Sagami Bay, Enoshima Island, and Mount Fuji. Besides observatories, there are also monkey enclosures and animal enclosures.

Zushi Beach, lovingly named "the half-mile beach where the sun was born," is a family beach with shallow waters and quiet waves. It has aquired the International environmental certification "Blue Flag". The beach is protected by ordinances and other rules, and can be enjoyed with a peace of mind. Note: Drinking alcohol, barbecuing, exposing tattoos, and using loudspeakers or other loud-speaking devices are prohibited on the beach during business hours. Failure to abide by the rules may result in expulsion from the beach.The closest natural beach to Tokyo, Zushi is typically a bit quieter than Kamakura and Enoshima although it will get quite crowded at times. One of the most convenient beaches to reach from Tokyo, you can reach Zushi in just under an hour from Tokyo Station.

This ancient temple in Kamakura is known for the 1,000 moso bamboo trees on its grounds. Even in the present day, the solemn atmosphere of the temple conveys the tragedy of the Ashikaga clan. It also features a beautiful bamboo grove and garden. The “Sunday Zazen-kai” (Zen meditation), which has a reputation for being strict, is held every Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. and is open to everyone. Please wear comfortable clothes to participate.This is probably the most impressive bamboo grove you will ever see.
