Our exhibit of "Life of the Earth and Stars" spans 4.6 billion years and presents the history of the Earth from creation to the present day in an easy-to-understand way. You can also view over 10,000 specimens, from great dinosaurs and meteorites to pea-sized insects.

This unique institute is located in the plate-collision area, rarely found in the world. Here, research is done on geology, hot springs, groundwater, earthquakes, and volcanos. Visitors can see the displays of research results on the first floor.

Homma Yoseki Museum is an art gallery that exhibits a collection of Yosegi Zaiku wooden mosaic work, a traditional craft from Hakone that has been continued since the Edo period. Visiting will help you to understand the beauty of this historical art. It holds around 500 pieces, of which at least 200 are always on display. The exhibits change with the seasons, with the Yosegi Gakujin-Bina dolls that are on display in spring being especially worth seeing.

A facility where you can enjoy learning about the history and nutrition of “kamaboko” (a type of cured surimi, a processed seafood product common in Japanese cuisine) through hands-on exhibits. You can observe the skills of the kamaboko craftsmen through the glass (closed on Wednesdays), and there is also a kamaboko and chikuwa handmade experience class under the guidance of craftsmen (reservation required).

The restaurant opens from 10 o'clock. It gets crowded at noon, so we recommend arriving early. There is fresh sashimi, seafood rice bowls, and seafood ramen available.
