Located near the top of (2nd) Irohazaka Slope， Akechidaira Plateau has sweeping views over a winding road and a dramatic mountain backdrop. This 3-minute long ropeway cable car ride takes you from the Akechidaira Plateau to an observation platform located at 1373m， offering superb panoramic views of the Nikko area， including Kegon Falls， Lake Chuzenji， Mt. Nantai， and the surrounding mountains in the distance. The vista is especially beautiful during the change of colors in the autumn， and during cherry blossom season. It is said this "Akechidaira" area， which offers the best view in all of Nikko， takes its name from Akechi Mitsuhide who assassinated Oda Nobunaga during the famous Honnoji Temple incident."

Kegon falls, one of the 3 great waterfalls in Japan, lights up in the evening. Let’s enjoy the rich and plentiful nature, and the magnificent lit up Kegon falls. *This illumination event can be canceled when bad weather is expected, or ill effects on wild animals are concerned. *When it is crowded，please be kind to other people :) *Using tripod is prohibited. *Please bring foot light for dark path walking.

Kegon Falls is the most famous of Nikko’s 48 waterfalls. Water from Lake Chuzenji falls 97 metres straight down to the rocks below creating a dynamic and artistic work of nature. A special lift takes visitors to the basin where the force and roar of the water can be witnessed close up! Kegon Falls offers stunning views every season. Deep green in early summer, red and yellow leaves in autumn. in winter, the water freezes as it drops creating beautiful ice shapes almost like beautiful pieces of art.

Nikko Natural Science Museum offers self-guided cycling tours that allow you to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Oku-Nikko. Riding an electric assist bicycle (e-bike) and using an exclusively designed navigation device, you can explore pre-planned routes for each tour. While there are no guides, you can enjoy cycling privately with your family or friends. This option is recommended for those who prefer to explore freely, including stops for dining and shopping.   We offer a variety of routes including cafe hopping, exploring the history of Nikko, cycling on quiet paved forest roads closed to general traffic, and even hiking. Our e-bikes make hill climbing effortless. If you're visiting Oku-Nikko, be sure to join us! *Please note that departure and arrival points vary depending on the tour.
