Happy Nuts Day
All-natural peanut butter made in the birthplace of Chiba peanuts
Taste this classic snack in its place of origin and visit the eco-friendly factory in Sammu.

Just wholesome, tasty peanut butter
Happy Nuts Day makes healthy, wholesome peanut butter the old-fashioned way – using just peanuts, beat sugar, and salt. And not just any peanuts: Chiba prefecture’s famous Nakate Yutaka variety of peanut, known for its refined sweetness and flavor. All of the peanuts are sourced directly from local farmers in Chiba, and each peanut is selected by hand, ensuring an exceptionally high quality of raw ingredients to produce peanut butter made without any oil. It’s an additive-free recipe that brings out the peanuts’ natural flavor.

The company’s happy-go-lucky policy stems back to its serendipitous origins in Sammu, when a handful of twenty-something skateboarders happened upon a stash of leftover peanuts from a local farmer. Wondering how they could make the most of their nutty bounty, they searched online for instructions on how to make peanut butter, borrowed a mortar, a frying pan and a portable stove, and promptly got to work. The resulting peanut butter was so delicious that they decided to turn their “happy” experiment and locally sourced labor of love into a full-fledged business.

See a sustainable peanut butter factory at work
The Happy Nuts Day processing factory is located in Sammu, Chiba Prefecture, the birthplace of Chiba peanuts. Visitors are welcome to witness the peanut-butter manufacturing process for themselves, and of course, taste and purchase Happy Nuts Day peanut butter products. The eco-friendly factory is housed in a repurposed kindergarten building with a solar power system installed on the roof for all-natural energy, and uses only electric vehicles for transportation. Furthermore, the socially responsible business outsources all of its product shipping to a facility for people with disabilities in Chiba City, who draw happy faces on the cardboard shipping boxes to thank each customer. Not satisfied with just making peanut butter for people, Happy Nuts Day also makes biscuits for dogs – and for every bag of dog biscuits they sell, they donate one bag to rescue dog shelters in Chiba prefecture.
