Miyamotoke
A Saitama Luxury Ryokan for a Satoyama Experience
This 200-year-old farmhouse has been lovingly restored as a luxurious ryokan for guests who want to experience an authentic retreat in the Japanese countryside near Tokyo. For a luxurious ryokan experience just outside of Tokyo, Miyamotoke offers guests countryside hospitality in a traditional Japanese farmhouse, plus something unique.

Three Centuries of History in a Relaxing Space
This 200-year old farmhouse has belonged to the Miyamoto family for generations, dating back to the family’s ancestral farmers roots. Its current owner took over the farmhouse in 2012 to welcome guests and share his family’s rich history. The ryokan contains just seven unique guest rooms, five of which have a private bath, so you can be sure to have a quiet and relaxing stay here. Even if your room doesn’t have its own bath, the ryokan has four other private baths that can be reserved by guests at no additional cost, including a cauldron style bath heated by firewood!

Miyamotoke serves huge, homestyle meals using many additive-free vegetables grown on their own farm and river fish raised in the clear streams in the area. They make use of their irori, the traditional hearth inside of farmhouses, to grill incredible meals full of flavor and aroma. This is real satoyama-style cuisine, using the freshest local ingredients and prepared in simple but delicious ways.

A Unique Experience for Sumo Fans
An extraordinarily unique ryokan, Miyamotoke is run by a retired pro sumo wrestler. Sumo fans can marvel at his collection of awards, photographs, and nostalgia in a small museum on the property. Several of sumo’s top wrestlers have visited Miyamotoke and donated some extraordinary items to his collection. Even the yukata worn by guests of the ryokan are made from the special cloth given to sumo wrestlers.

Access to Miyamotoke
You can visit Miyamotoke by taking the Seibu Ikebukuro Line train from Ikebukuro to Chichibu. The Limited Express Laview will transport you in comfort in about an hour and 20 minutes. A Miyamotoke shuttle will take you to the ryokan from Seibu-Chichibu Station (you can reserve the shuttle when you make your room reservation).
