Gunma Flower Park + marks a quiet but decisive shift from the traditional flower-viewing destination into something more immersive and restorative.

Surrounded by the expansive natural landscape connected to Mount Akagi and the Arato River, the park is designed as a place where visitors of all ages can slow down, breathe, and let their senses open. Rather than presenting flowers as objects to admire from a distance, the park encourages a deeper relationship with nature through touch, movement, and creative experiences.

At the heart of Gunma Flower Park + is the concept of Nature Positive, the belief that human life and biodiversity must grow together, not at each other’s expense. Modern lifestyles rely on nature’s abundance, yet often exceed nature’s capacity to recover. Nature Positive seeks to reverse that imbalance by restoring ecosystems and leaving them in a “plus” state. Gunma Flower Park + puts this philosophy into practice through conservation-minded gardening, habitat creation, and educational play. Fallen leaves are returned to the soil through bio-nesting, gardens are cultivated as living habitats, and the park itself becomes a site where ecological cycles are visible and tangible. Visitors don’t just learn about sustainability; they experience it.

One of the park’s defining spaces is Play Forest, an open field of exploration where visitors walk through wooded areas with play leaders, create with natural materials, and encounter plants and wildlife up close. Seasonal events from birdwatching and rice-planting experiences to winter ecology workshops extend this learning beyond passive participation. Each activity is designed to weave environmental awareness into moments of curiosity and fun, creating memories that linger long after the visit ends.

There’s no single way to experience the park. Stroll among signature flowers like roses, hydrangeas, and clematis; or settle in for a meal made with locally sourced Gunma produce, where even food waste is composted back into the land. Browse original goods crafted from natural materials, including items made from reclaimed flowers and plants grown on-site. Throughout the year, hands-on activities—such as plant dyeing with vegetable scraps or basket-making from bamboo—transform “waste” into play. Gunma Flower Park + gently reminds visitors that small choices matter, and that reconnecting with nature doesn’t require a grand gesture, but a little attention, curiosity, and willingness to play.
