The Yokohama Tram Museum opened on the site of the Takigashira rolling stock factory in 1973, one year after the tram was abolished. In 1983, it was then rebuilt on the first floor of the current municipal housing building. In the hall, stop signs, paving stones and seven tram cars are all preserved as they were at that time, and reproduce the atmosphere of the time when the tram was running.Yokohama was not only the site of the very first rail station in Japan, but also home to a great trolley system. Walk through the many restored cars where you can sit and imagine being transported around the city.

Negishi Forest Park was established in 1866 as the first permanent facility in Japan where Western-style horse racing was held and sponsored by a foreigner's club. It was the largest racecourse in the East and was always crowded with people until it closed in 1943 due to the war. It was later opened in 1977 as a forest park and featured a large lawn at its center. Come watch the four seasons pass with the changing foliage. The park becomes especially crowded during cherry blossom season.Negishi Park is a happening place during cherry blossom season, however, no matter what time of year you need to visit the Equine Museum of Japan. This museum is not only about history, but also houses the imperial carriage and many retired racehorses.

Kouka Awazu is a Japanese calligrapher. She started teaching calligraphy because she had a great experience when she performed abroad and received enthusiastic applause. At this calligraphy school, foreign people can experience Japanese calligraphy in short time and in deep understanding. They offer an English course.

This shopping arcade is composed of around 130 shops with over 90 years of history. Under the catchphrase of “cool old town Yokohamabashi”, it is also popular with non-Japanese residents of the local area. A beautiful park with a fountain, stone pavements and flowerbeds, having a surface area of approximately 13,000 square meters. The name derives from the fact that the Italian consulate was located here during the Meiji period. One can view the verdant Yamate area from the lookout on the hill. Two western houses, the Diplomat’s House and the Bluff 18 Ban-Kan have been rebuilt here.
