Yana is a trap to catch sweetfish that swim down the river to lay their eggs. The trap is a screen made with finely divided and stripped bamboo placed on a bamboo scaffolding where the water flow is blocked in a V-shaped depression. Ooseyana in Motegi Town in Tochigi boasts the largest yana trap among many traps placed on the Naka River. What’s most entertaining about yana fishing is that you can catch sweetfish while feeling the powerful flow of the Naka River over your feet. The catch is largest between the second half of September and the end of October. At the restaurant, you can savor freshwater fish dishes such as grilled sweetfish with a sprinkle of salt and deep-fried sweetfish while enjoying the river view.

Mount Kamakura towers 100 metres above the Nakagawa River and is 216 metres above sea level. The summit affords the most fantastic views in all of the Nakagawa Prefectural Natural Park.   The best viewing season is from late-October to mid-December when the area is blanketed with a layer of misty clouds, a phenomenon arising from the mixture of the cool mountain air and the warm waters of the Nakagawa River. During early and mid-November, when misty clouds glow in the morning sun, views of the autumn mountain foliage are mesmerising.   Come and see this renowned late-autumn scenery!

Located in a satoyama (woodland village) near the Naka River, Tsuki noco is a country guesthouse that runs a bakery selling wild yeast bread. The accommodation is a Japanese style house built over 120 years ago. For dinner, they serve original food menu prepared mainly with grains and seasonal vegetables. For breakfast, you will enjoy their wild yeast bread. They can modify meals into curry over rice or vegetable croquettes for children and also can prepare vegan meals. Aside from the bakery and farm stay, they also run Satoyama Gohan no Gakko, a school for learning about nature, with the ambition to acquire, with all participants, the knowledge and techniques to grow food and preserve the satoyama environment for future generations. One of the largest in mainland Japan, the park is known for its 280,000 beautiful Shibazakura in bloom from mid-April to May, covering an area of 1.8 hectares. A must-see is the panoramic view of the floral carpet from the observatory, where various shades of red, white, mauve and pink lawn cherry blossoms form beautiful patterns. You can taste handmade soba noodles at the restaurant in the park. Local vegetables and Shibazakura plants are available at the farmer's market.

The Shibazakura Festival is held every year at Ichikai Town Shibazakura Park in April and May.   About 280,000 plants in magenta, pink, purple and white are planted over 18,000 square meters in Shibazakura park. The flower carpet is patterned after the Kokaigawa river, which starts near the town.   During the festival, a soba restaurant(Hana) in the park, you can enjoy authentic hand-made soba. Additionally, also sells agricultural products and shibazakura seedlings.
