Working the Land at ENDO FARM

Sustainable farming and SDG friendly practices are at the forefront of efforts at ENDO FARM to plant, grow, and harvest produce while working to ensure that people will be able to continue to grow food on this land for generations to come. This area of Japan is renowned as a top producer of a variety of types of green onions, and ENDO FARM has created a fully cyclical farming system. This system consists of planting flowers after the vegetables have been harvested. This gives bees the chance to collect honey from those flowers, which later become fertilizer when they decay.@shon_photo

The sunflowers that are planted after the vegetables have been harvested draw visitors and even TV and film crews - from all over the country. “Sunflower tourism” leverages the amazing summer scenery to bring visitors to ENDO FARM which in turn supports their sustainable mission. The sunflowers are in bloom from summer to autumn, and are an idyllic and peaceful scene to behold. The sprawling sunflower fields are open to the public from July to November, depending on blooming conditions.@shon_photo
