It was founded in the early Muromachi period as a branch temple of Kencho-ji Temple in Kamakura, inheriting the remains of Kannondo and Kiyomizu-dera. On December 17th and 18th, the first daruma fair of the season in the Kanto Region is held at Iizumizan Shōfuku-ji Temple, the 5th amulet issuing temple of the Bando Sanjusankasho. The daruma-selling stores line the temple grounds and bustle with families. Those who attend pray for business prosperity and the wellbeing of their families.

Yugawara Onsen is famous for being taken up in the Man'yoshu, Japanese classic book. Hot spring Ryokan, "The Ryokan Tokyo" was visited by many Meiji and Taisho cultural figures. This ryokan is a 'Cool' hot spring onsen remixed with the contemporary culture and the old Onsen culture from Nara era. Tatoos are allowed here.

TIVOLI is confection maker which opened in November 2017 that produces assorted cookies and boasts the top share in the domestic market. This is their only facility for factory tours and direct retail. The theme is “sweet factory for the five senses.” From the second floor, visitors can observe the staff working and the robots moving nimbly as the sweets are produced. They also offer opportunities for guests to try making their own sweets. Small children can also participate. Guests can also enjoy learning about confection production and eat the freshly baked goodies.
