Sip matcha tea in a centuries-old Japanese garden

Rakusan-en is a traditional-style landscape garden designed for relaxing strolls. It was created in the Edo period (1603–1868) in honor of a powerful local samurai leader named Oda Nobukatsu (1558–1630).

The perfectly manicured space cleverly incorporates Mt. Momiji, and Mt. Renseki as a borrowed landscape. Its path leads around Konmei Pond and past a scattering of tea houses, including Ryountei—a beautiful place to stop and appreciate the garden while drinking matcha tea.
