One of the hottest openings of 2018, teamLab Borderless remains one of the most exciting and innovative art experiences in Tokyo. Created by the art collective teamLab, an interdisciplinary group that includes artists, engineers, CG animators, and mathematicians, the team aims to “navigate the confluence of art, science, technology, and the natural world.”

No two visits are ever the same as artworks made using digital technology swirl around the space, forming a continuously fluctuating display of color and lights that shifts over time, even changing with the real time seasons. The experience forms a “borderless” world that’s simultaneously mesmerizing, disorienting, and enchanting.

Stroll fields of digital flowers and trees, navigate the Crystal World, where strings of lights and mirrors seem to stretch infinitely, and reach up to touch a waterfall, watching the digital water cascade around your fingers. Active visitors will enjoy the physically challenging Athletics Forest, and there’s also a Future Park that offers creative activities, like drawings that come to life around you. Don’t forget to stop by EN TEA HOUSE, where flowers of light bloom endlessly from your tea bowl in front of you. Tickets must be bought in advance for a set date and time.
