With each guest room featuring an ancient cypress bath, the natural hot springs of Satonoyu, along with the stunning views of Bandai-Asahi National Park, deliver an unforgettably peaceful onsen experience.

Surrounded by the bountiful forestry of Bandai-Asahi National Park, Tsuchiyubettei Satonoyu is an onsen ryokan that directly connects its guests with the splendor of Fukushima’s nature and harvest. Founded in 1984, Satonoyu offers nine rooms with each promising the utmost privacy, permitting guests to savor the sights and sounds of the luscious greenery that envelops them.

Along with their room’s cypress bath, guests can also reserve three types of private baths: open-air, semi-open-air, and indoor. While each bath offers its own feeling of calm, they all sport fabulous views of the majestic nature that surrounds Satonoyu. Be it the babbling of the mountain water, the songs of the local wildlife, or the sights of the seasonal flowers, the bathing experience at Satonoyu places its guests at the forefront of Fukushima’s rural excellence. The soundtrack of the stay is composed of Fukushima’s wildlife, with guests rising to the gentle melodies of the animal kingdom.

The evening dining experience at Satonoyu follows the mantra of its awe-inspiring onsen, which is an unbreakable tether to the natural world. Served in a kaiseki (traditional multi-course meal) style, dishes are inspired by the seasons, with the menu shifting like the changing of the leaves. Local delicacies are crafted from organic ingredients harvested by the mountains and the sea, with a further highlight being the premium Japanese black beef steak. With the menu changing regularly, guests will not only witness the changing of the seasons through breathtaking views; they will quite literally taste it. Photo courtesy of Tsuchiyubettei Satonoyu
