Nogi Jinja Shrine was built approximately 1，600 years ago.The carvings on the side walls of the hall are impressive， and there is a 1200 year old ginkgo tree that towers over the shrine grounds. Women make consecrate model breasts made of rice bran and white cloth and pray at the ginkgo tree to ensure good production of milk and healthy infants."

Made in 1890， the Nogi-machi Brick Kiln is a Hoffmann kiln that belonged to the former Shimotsuke brick manufacturer and was a major contributor to Nogi’s industrialisation. This is the only perfectly original Hoffmann kiln in Japan and is designated as an Important Cultural Property. It is in the shape of a hexadecagon (a 16-sided polygon) and is 34 metres in height and 100 metres in circumference. The kiln baked up to 408，000 bricks per year during the 80 years between 1890 and 1971. The conservation and repair work on the kiln was completed in September 2015 and the kiln was open to the public on 10 May 2016. The Nogi Koryu Centre (known as the “Nogi Hoffmann Kan”) was built and opened to the public at the same time. The centre offers activities and workshops as well as original goods and light meals. Watarase Yusuichi (Watarase Wetlands) is one of the biggest wetland in Japan and has protected the lives and properties of urban areas from floods. It is also the treasure house for many species of animals and plants including endangered flora and fauna species and was registered to the Ramsar Convention Wetlands. Yoshi-yaki is done every year to get rid of the worms in Yoshi and to prevent the bush fires from spreading to nearby houses as well as to protect the invaluable wetland environment. The smoke， dust and ashes from Yoshi-yaki may be wide-spread due to the wind or up-current of the air and may blow onto surrounding properties. Please watch out for laundry hung outdoors and be aware when opening or closing windows."

Mamada Kumihimo is a traditional Japanese cord created by hand braiding. The cords were used in the armour of Samurai warriors long ago. Today the silk woven cords have a wide range of uses such as bolo ties， obi-himo ties used to secure the obi of women’s kimonos and haori-himo ties in the men and women wear short coats over their kimonos. Try your hand at making your own strap with the vegetable-dyed， pure silk threads made from domestically grown cocoons at a traditional Mamada cord shop.

This retarding basin with a 3，300ha of reed bed is one of the largest in Japan. Visitors can enjoy a variety of recreation activities including water sports， cycling， fishing， fireworks show and sports events. The 11.5-kilometre trail by the Watarase River and forests is well worth walking. Watarase-yusuichi was recognised under the Ramsar Convention on July 3， 2012.
