Nature Observation Facility Kuzuha House

The Kuzuha Green Space, which consists of the Kuzuha River, which runs almost in the centre of the Hadano Basin, and a canyon surrounded by abundant greenery, was designated as" Kanagawa's National Trust No. 1 Green Space" in 1987. "Kuzuha no Ie", which is a base for nature observation, was opened in 1998, and visitors can get close to nature and also holds nature observation meetings, seasonal gatherings and nature observation instructor training courses, and various other activities to encourage nature protection. In addition, we are engaged in work to pass on the conservation of the space to future generations through appropriate management such as nature surveys, tree pruning, and mowing.

Hiratsuka Offshore Experiment Tower (University of Tokyo Ocean Alliance)

Hiratsuka Offshore Comprehensive Experiment Tower is a marine and meteorological observation and oceanographic experiment platform installed in waters 1km off the coast of Hiratsuka, at a depth of 20m. Managed and operated by the University of Tokyo, the tower is used by various domestic and international research institutions as well as private equities for marine experiments. Easily identifed as the massive yellow structure visible from Hiratsuka Beach and in Ryujogaoka along National Route 134, it is nicknamed the "Hiratsuka Tower". Some visitors even paddle out to sea on standing paddleboards to get a close-up view!

Kamakura Museum of Literature

Kamakura Museum of Literature

Please check the official website on reopening, operational information and more.The Kamakura Museum of Literature was built in 1936 (Showa 11) as the former Kamakura villa of Maeda Marquis family. You can view the rooms reminiscent of the past, with marble fireplaces and stained glass, as well as the important resources inside from related authors such as Yasunari Kawabata. In the garden filled with greenery, some 250 shrubs of roses bloom in Spring and Autumn. This building is the model for the villa in Yukio Mishima’s novel, “Spring Snow”.The grounds and rose garden are quite beautiful, but there is not a lot of English support available inside the museum.

Aikawa Park

Aikawa Park

Prefectural Aikawa Park is located on a river terrace directly below the Miyagase Dam. The 51-hectare expanse includes the "Flower Slope," where 44,000 colorful azaleas of 40 varieties bloom all over in spring, and "Wind Hill," which offers an excellent view of the Yokohama Landmark on a clear day! You'll be amazed by the impressive scenery from all seasons! In addition, the "Adventure Forest" and the "Fluffy Dome" are equipped with large playground equipment that allow children to play all day long, and during the water season, the "Jabu-Jabu Pond" is filled with the sound of children's cheers all year round. From April to November, the park is used as a base for observing the dynamic discharge of the Miyagase Dam, and the "Ai-chan-go" road train, popular with children, runs from in front of the Park Center to below the dam. The "Craft Workshop Village" in the park is operated as a base for disseminating information on the traditional crafts of the local town of Aikawa to the rest of the prefecture and beyond, as well as a place to increase local interest and promote interaction between visitors and the community through creative experiences that allow visitors to come into contact with traditional crafts. Ehrismann Residence

Ehrismann Residence

This was the private residence of silk trader Mr. Ellisman and was built in 1926 at 127 Yamate-cho and designed by A. Raymond, the "Father of Modern Japanese Architecture" who profoundly influenced Japan's architectural world. While possessing elements of a foreign-style mansion, it also shows the influence of Raymond's mentor, F. L. Wright, such as an emphasis on the horizontal lines of the eaves. It was relocated and restored to its current location in Motomachi Park in 1990. The first floor features a reception room with a fireplace, a combined living and dining room, and a sunroom overlooking the garden furnished with pieces designed by Raymond, while the second floor houses an exhibition on Western-style houses in Yamate. The basement is available for rental as a free-use space and includes a tea room utilizing the former kitchen area.One of eight restored Western Houses in the Yokohama, Yamate area, this is most beautiful in autumn and during the Christmas season. Take a break in its lovely little cafe.

Super Chef NOBU, Nobuyuki Matsuhisa and ITOH DINING has colaborated and opened a completely style restaurant in Hakone, Gora. Kobe beef, seafood from Sagami Bay and Hakone Mishima vegetables are used affluently in this Teppanyaki style menu. Gora Brewery and Grill is also in Hakone, Gora. The restaurant was designed by the LEAF award winner architect,Takushi Nakamura. The LEAF award is one of the awards of International Architects awards. In Gora Brewery, you can enjoy Nobu style dishes with a craft beer.

Meigetsu-in Temple

Meigetsu-in Temple in Kita-Kamakura is also known as The Temple of Hydrangeas. For hydrangea season around June, many people flock here to view approximately 2,500 hydrangeas. The hydrangeas planted at Meigetsu-in are all a uniform blue color, dubbed "Meigetsu-in Blue."Visitors can admire the dry zen garden year-round. It is said to represent the mythical Buddhist Mount Shumi.The inner garden hosts a beautiful variety of shrubbery and foliage, and is beautiful all year round. Visitors can only enter the garden twice a year — otherwise, they can only get a peek of the garden through the Main Hall's Window of Enlightenment.The window of enlightenment is a circular window that can be seen when looking into the Main Hall. This window is said to symbolize enlightenment, reality, and the vastness of the universe.Lined with tatami, the minimalistic main hall fills visitors with a sense of calm, and perfectly frames the Window of Enlightenment.
