Jogashima Park occupies the eastern half of Jogashima, located at the southernmost tip of Miura Peninsula. When you pass through the forest in the park, you will come across a unique prarie landscape. As this area was created due to the strong winds that blow from the Pacific Ocean and the strong sun, most of the plants are unable to grow tall. For this reason, black pine is grown in the inland areas of the island to avoid the strong winds.Bird lovers should visit the park between November and April when the Japanese cormorant, a protected species, nests on the island. There is an excellent view of the bird sanctuary along a hiking trail on the southern side of the island.

Lake Ashi, also known as Ashinoko, was created by a steam explosion of Mount Kamiyama about 3000 years ago. This caused a river to be dammed, which formed the lake. The majority of the lake’s water comes from a spring at the bottom of the lake. The area is often bustling with hikers along the shore, picnickers, and people fishing.The Hakone Sightseeing Cruise Pirate Ship is one of Ashinoko's most famous experiences. Pirate ships come in three different designs, but all cruises offer the same, smooth journeys across Ashinoko, promising a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji on clear days.Togendai Port is one of the three ports where the Hakone Sightseeing Cruise docks. It is also directly connected to the Hakone Ropeway.The Hakone Ropeway connects visitors from Togendai Port to the Owakudani observation platform, Hakone's most famous tourist spot. While the view of Mt. Fuji from the observatory is stunning on its own, the view from taking the ropeway alone will take your breath away.A 15-minute walk from Togendai pier, this small observation square is a lesser-known observatory that also provides beautiful views of Mt. Fuji and Ashinoko. If you feel like skipping Owakudani and taking a shortcut, this observatory is for you.Enjoy a magnificent view of Mt. Fuji, Lake Ashi, and the red torii gate, in the morning or evening at Motohakone Port. Depending on your luck, you can see the reflection of Mt. Along the Tokaido route from Nihonbashi to Kyoto, Mount Fuji is usually seen on the right when heading to Kyoto. However, you can see Mount Fuji on the left at this rare spot, upon the Toriidobashi Bridge located along National Route 1. The scenery of the past is captured in Hiroshige Utagawa’s (Hiroshige Ando) ukiyo-e painting “The Nango Pine Grove with Mount Fuji to the Left” (Nango no matsubara hidari fuji). Pine trees line the avenues of the path leading to the Tsurumine Hachimangu Shrine, leaving some traces of the past.

The tour takes approximately 90 minutes. On this tour, you can learn about the history of the popular Ekiben lunch boxes and learn the secret to producing the delicious shumai o-bento lunch boxes. Through the glass, you can witness the important manufacturing process. Why not enjoy something that can only be enjoyed at this particular place? There is also a mini-museum shop in the factory where you can eat freshly cooked shumai and buy souvenirs.

Houan is a traditional tea house built in 1934 in the forested valley behind Jochiji Temple in Kita-Kamakura. It features a building with two tea rooms (Jouan-ken)—one 8-mat and one 4-mat room, and the world's smallest tea house, the thatched-roof Musouan, measuring just under 2 mats. It is normally closed to the public, but just once a month, a tea house opens its doors to serve matcha and high-grade sweets to visitors freely touring the premises (reservation required). Information about various tea gatherings, introductory sessions for beginners, and traditional Japanese arts classes is posted on the official website and social media. They also accommodate inquiries for small-group tea ceremony experiences and tea gatherings for international visitors.

This is Odawara City's largest festival to honor the Hojo clan, a set of feudal lords who reigned over the Kanto region for five generations for about 100 years during the Warring States Period, a time of fierce rivalry between the warriors, and who created a nation with the ideal of the well-being of its people. A total of 1,700 people parade in the city in a heroic procession of warriors, mainly modeled after the five successive lords of the Hojo clan, with the participation of local brass bands, the Ground Self-Defense Force, and other musical groups, as well as portable shrines and other town groups. In addition, there will be a firing performance by the Hojo Tepposhu and a performance by the Fuuma Ninjas in the streets.

After undergoing purification, visitors can enter the “Kantakeyama Shinen" located in the inner garden of the main shrine. The Japanese garden features "Namba no Koike," which has a long history, a teahouse where you can enjoy green tea, and also a museum.

The Ayu Matsuri Grand Fireworks Display is held on the first night of the festival, and the viewing area and the firework launch site are close together so that visitors can enjoy the powerful fireworks. The number of fireworks launched is one of the most in the prefecture, at about 10,000, and the finale, the Niagara, is a must-see. The fireworks festival takes place on the first night of the Atsugi Ayu Matsuri held over two days on the first Saturday and Sunday of August every year. The varied program features about 10,000 fireworks. Paid seating is available from one month in advance.
