The Ryumon Folk Crafts Museum is located near the Ryumon Falls, and the observation deck attached to the museum is the best place to see the magnificent view of the falls. In addition to displaying dragons, the museum also features animations of local folk tales and legends, and sells souvenirs from Nasukarasuyama City.   On the way to Ryumon Falls from the Ryumon Folk Crafts Museum, there is an excellent hiking trail, so you can follow it all the way to the bottom of the waterfall and experience the rapid flow of the waterfall from a close distance. The most famous feature of Ryumon Falls is the spectacle of the tram passing over the falls, and with the changes in the natural scenery during the four seasons, the composition of the tram and the waterfalls has become a famous location for photographers and railroad fans. The museum shares the estimated time when the train passes over the waterfall, so please come and take some rare and beautiful photos! ＊Please remember to stay safe when taking photos.  

What started as an oil shop during the first year of the Edo Tenmei era in 1781 became a specialty miso-making company by the end of the Edo period. Please try our special Miso Dengaku or try our miso to make your own traditionally-seasoned dishes.

The museum holds rows of roughly 100 exhibits containing famous swords including important cultural properties and special precious swords， some of which are national treasures. Along with antique samurai items such as armor， tsuba (a sword guard) and a kago (palanquin) are hinawajyu (antique guns) and a meteor."

One of Japan's top 100 urban parks, the famous azalea viewing place in Kanto City, North Kanto City, about 5,000 azaleas in full bloom here, and every year in May will be held “azalea festival”, swarming with many people.   From early April to mid-May (the peak season for cherry blossoms and azaleas), the park is illuminated at night, and the dreamlike flower scene makes people linger.   There are also lawn parks and amusement facilities in the park, which are suitable for family picnics. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Takahara and Mt. Nikko from the observatory in the park.

In this event， held at Aramachi Hondori on a Saturday in late August， 2，000 participants march down the street while performing dances.

Try your hand at painting, hand building and wheel throwing at the Koisagoyaki Pottery Experience Centre “Toyu-kan”. Using local clay, visitors can enjoy a therapeutic and creative experience within natural surroundings. The spacious centre with a capacity of up to 100 is perfect for groups. Koisagoyaki is a historic gold-glazed ceramic art and is officially recognised as one of prefecture’s traditional crafts. The Koisago area in Nakagawa-machi is the home of Koisagoyaki pottery and a member of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages in Japan. One of the famous Koisagoyaki potteries, Fujita Pottery was featured on NHK Television’s travel programme in 2016.

The Kanuma Autumn Festival, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage event, will be held in Kanuma, Japan, in grand style, bringing the tradition and elegance of the Edo Period festivals to the present day. The “Yatai Event of Kanuma Imamiya Shrine Festival,” the core of this festival, was designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property in February 2003, and was also registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage on December 1, 2016 as one of the “Yama, Hoko, Yatai Event”.   For two days, 26 gorgeous yatai, which are also called “moving Yangmyongmon,” will parade through the streets of Kanuma in a heroic manner.   On the first day of the festival, “Nuriikomi” begins around noon, when 26 yatai pass through the torii gate and enter the precincts of Imamiya Shrine. At around 5:00 p.m., all the yatai will light lanterns and return to their respective neighborhoods with a musical accompaniment.   On the second day, after the “Citizens' Parade” of “marching bands” and “Mikoshi” in the morning, “Yatai Aligned Pulling (Yatai Parade)” will be held around 2:00 p.m., in which 26 yatai will simultaneously drive along the Kominehara Palace Road (commonly called “Festival Road”).   The highlight of the festival is a musical performance called “Buttsuke” in which three to seven yatai perform at a junction. The music of the festival is a spectacular sight to behold, and the sounds of the heroic “Buttsuke” music will echo through the night on both days of the festival.

Situated at the foot of the Nasu Mountains， the 1230-metre altitude marshland abounds in alpine flora. Over 200 kinds of plants can be found here. The highlight is the bright yellow daylilies known as “Nikko Kisuge” covering the entire marshland during early and mid-July. Visitors can explore the area on a 30-minute walk on the wooden footpath.
