Kayama Plantation, Strawberry Picking

This plantation offers you the opportunity to taste strawberries grown in organic soil. The soil is rich in nutrients, giving the strawberries a rich sweetness with a refreshing acidity. “Tochiotome” and “Benihoppe (Red Cheek)” strawberries are available to pick between early January and early June. The homemade Strawberry Daifuku (2 for 600 yen, 3 for 900 yen) are made from their strawberries and are extremely popular, so pre-orders are a must. They also sell jam (800 yen). *Make sure to also give the adjacent Kayama Farm Cafe a try!

Hakone Shrine, Kuzuryu Shrine

Hakone Shrine, Kuzuryu Shrine

The Kuzuryū Shrine is an outer precinct shrine of the Hakone Shrine, worshipping the guardian deity of Lake Ashinoko and Kuzuryū Shrine. This shrine, located in the forest of Lake Ashinoko, has a small Torii(shrine gate) in the lake and is known for its dragon deity (Ryujin-sama) who is said to have strong powers in bringing fortune, business prosperity and love. During the Tsukinami Festival (festival of the months) held on the 13th of every month, many people come to visit via boats departing from the Moto-Hakone Port. Near the main Kuzuryū Shrine is the Benzaiten Shrine which worships Benzaiten (Goddess of Fortune), one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Japan. Please feel free to also visit the Benzaiten Shrine when visiting the Kuzuryū Shrine.

Nogeyama Zoological Gardens

Nogeyama Zoological Gardens

Since its opening in the 26th year of the Showa period (1951), Nogeyama Zoological Gardens has been popular as a familiar zoo. Admission is free and the zoo has a long history of breeding approximately 65 species of animals.The zoo will extend its opening hours on Saturdays and Sundays in August, and will hold a special summer evening event where the zoo will open to the public at night, an experience otherwise unavailable to the public. Visitors can enjoy a different view of the zoo at night when the zoo is decorated with illuminations and the animals are more active!

JAXA Sagamihara Campus

JAXA Sagamihara Campus

The Communication Hall of Space Science and Exploration building is a visitor facility operated by the JAXA Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS). Visitors can see exhibits up-close, including an authentic M-V rocket that completed ground combustion tests, test models of scientific satellites, and displays related to the asteroid explorer "Hayabusa2". Wall-mounted monitors display information alongside staff-guided tours. (Please see the website for start times.)

Narukawa Art Museum

Narukawa Art Museum stands by the Ashinoko in Hakone, surrounded by trees. It was opened to the public in 1988. They have a collection of more than 4,000 works specializing in modern Japanese paintings. They have about 150 pieces of works by Gakuto Yamamoto, who has won an award for culture. About 40 pieces of Ikuo Hirayama. From the museum's garden, enjoy an excellent view of Hakone.Enjoy one of Hakone's best views from the Panorama Lounge — when the sky is clear, admire Mount Fuji, Lake Ashi and Hakone Shrine's red torii gate together.
