TEMPLESTAY ZENSŌ offers you a chance to stay in a traditional Japanese house adjacent to the temple grounds of Horinji Temple in the town of Chiyoda. The temple was founded in the early 14th century and remains a tranquil site of Buddhist devotion. Enjoy the amenities and comforts of a private villa while trying unique Buddhist experiences. Accommodating up to six people, the house comes with modern appliances and conveniences, including wi-fi service. Book activities such as zazen meditation or sutra copying to make the most of your proximity to Horinji Temple. Japanese-speaking visitors can take part in these activities with advance reservation, even if they are not staying at the temple. There are dining plans that can be added to the Onsen & Stay package, including one that provides everything you need a delicious barbecue meal.

Ooyama-cable

Ooyama-cable

Ooyama cable car will take you to a great scenic spot that is located at a height of 700 m above sea level in 6 minutes. The cable car is 0.8 km long and the difference of elevation between stations is 278 m. Passengers can fully enjoy grand views from a large window of the cable car: a view of Enoshima spreading below the cable, seasonal sceneries of Oyama and other superb prospects. The cable car won a Good Design Award in 2016. Passengers are allowed to have a stopover at the intermediate station, Oyamadera station.There are many hiking routes to the top, some of which are quite challenging. The cable car is fastest and offers great views. Autumn is most beautiful.

The “BANDAI NAMCO Cross Store” is a “touchpoint” where you can see, touch, and experience the characters, products, events, food, drink, and many other things developed by the BANDAI NAMCO Group company. “Crossing through” the facilities will provide a new entertainment experience. In addition to the “Official Shop Area,” where many products are sold, and the “Event Area” with exhibits and attractions, the “Amusement Area” and “Gashapon Area” are also being developed, creating a “cross” of various contents and customers.

A factory with a long history, originating from Spring Valley Brewery (Yokohama Yamate), one of Japan's first breweries. During the hour-long factory tour, you can learn about the process of making beer, including preparation, fermentation, and packaging. At the end of the tour, you can taste freshly brewed beer and experience the mini-seminar on how to fully enjoy Ichiban Shibori. In addition to the tour, you can enjoy seasonal plants in the factory garden. Japan Open Air Folk House Museum

Located 30 minutes from Tokyo and 40 minutes by car from Haneda Airport, this municipal Japanese folklore park in the northern part of Kawasaki City is an outdoor museum that features 25 structures, including traditional Japanese houses, watermills, and Kabuki stages. The buildings are scattered amongst a lush green environment, and you can enjoy the nature of all four seasons. Popular events are also held at the traditional folk houses. In one of the facilities, the traditional crafts building, you can experience indigo dyeing.A gasshō-zukuri house with tall, steep roof and home to the Yamashita family known for their silkworm cultivation and fire farming on the mountain slopes.Similar to the Yamashita House, there was also space under the floors used for the manufacturer of gunpowder.Silkworms were raised in the large attic and papermaking took place on one of the earthen-floored areas.This house was used as both farmhouse and a dye-house.

Samukawa Shrine

Samukawa Shrine

This shrine pays worship to the nations only guardian deity that protects all eight cardinal and ordinal directions, and removes misfortunes originating from geographical features, house layout, cardinal direction or daily bad luck. After undergoing purification, visitors can enter the “Kantakeyama Shinen" located in the inner garden of the main shrine. The Japanese garden features "Namba no Koike," which has a long history, a teahouse where you can enjoy green tea, and also a museum.

Amazake Chaya Teahouse

Located next-door to the Hakone Tokaido Museum, Amazake Chaya Teahouse has been in business for 12 successive generations since it was established in the Edo era. They serve homemade, all-natural, sugar-free amazake, a sweet drink made from fermented rice, and hand-pounded, char-grilled bincho mochi rice cakes, which are very soft and tasty. Experience the time-honored delicacies that the travelers passing along the steep mountain highway enjoyed years ago in the rustic grass-thatched teahouse.
