JAXA Sagamihara Campus

The Communication Hall of Space Science and Exploration building is a visitor facility operated by the JAXA Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS). Visitors can see exhibits up-close, including an authentic M-V rocket that completed ground combustion tests, test models of scientific satellites, and displays related to the asteroid explorer "Hayabusa2". Wall-mounted monitors display information alongside staff-guided tours. (Please see the website for start times.)

Hinata Yakushi Treasure Hall (Yakushi Nyorai, Japan’s Three Yakushi)

Hinata Yakushi Treasure Hall (Yakushi Nyorai, Japan’s Three Yakushi)

Founded by Gyoki in 716, this temple has a history of 1,300 years. Since the Middle Ages, it has been a sacred place for medicinal practitioners, and is known as Hinata Yakushi, one of the three most famous Yakushi in Japan. The temple also holds one of Japan's greatest treasure houses, with numerous statues of Buddha designated as nationally important cultural properties that bear witness to its history. It is also famous for higanbana (cluster amaryllis), which grows in clusters around Hinata Yakushi from mid-September to early October, making it a popular tourist attraction. Please come and visit Hinata Yakushi, a place rich in nature and full of attractions.

Tsunashima Cherry Blossom Festival

Tsunashima Cherry Blossom Festival

The Tsunashima Cherry Blossom Festival is held at Tsunashima Park, a 7-minute walk from Tsunashima Station, which can be accessed within 30 minutes from both Shibuya and Yokohama. Local neighborhood associations set up booths at the festival site, and the local shopping district provides a great deal of festival collaboration and fun. A flea market is also held, making the event atmosphere very lively. Performances such as traditional Japanese dances, koto playing, modern dance, awadori, and others can be enjoyed on the central stage. Please enjoy a gorgeous day here under the cherry blossoms in full bloom!

Seven Lucky Gods Meguri

Seven Lucky Gods Meguri

Previously located in the south of Hadano City, Minami Hadano Village, is home to many historic temples and shrines, as well as many spring water spots. Please feel free to visit the nine temples and shrines, some of which include the Seven Gods of Good Fortune plus cranes and turtles, to gather good fortune and enjoy a relaxing time. A special red seal map is available at each spot and at the Hadano Station Tourist Information Center, and visitors who collect all the red seal stamps on the map will receive a prize for completing the tour.

Zama Sunflower Field

Zama Sunflower Field

The Zama sunflower was established as the city flower of Zama City in 1969, and was selected as one of the "100 best places for flowers in Kanagawa" in 1994. A total of 550,000 flowers bloom over a total area of 5.5ha, and a sunflower festival is held every year.Add an artsy touch to your photos during the Kurihara festival by posing with props supplied by the festival. Model with picture frames and hats to immortalize the fun moment.
