Roadside Station Mashiko(Michi-no-Eki Mashiko)  is a roadside station offering fresh local produce and local products and crafts at the “Mashiko-no-Marche” as well as reasonably-priced lunches with freshly picked vegetables at the “Mashiko-no-Gohan” restaurant. The information centre “Concierge” provides information on tourism， special exhibitions and workshops， along with advice on moving to the town and booking rental space. After 120 years, the former British Embassy Villa opened its doors to the public as the British Embassy Villa Memorial Park on 1 July 2016. Ernest Satow, a British diplomat who contributed to Japan’s Meiji Restoration, built a private villa at the south bank of Lake Chuzenji in 1896. He loved Oku-Nikko, especially Lake Chuzenji as the area reminded him of the natural landscape of his home country. The villa was used as the British Embassy summer residence until 2008 before being donated to Tochigi prefecture in 2010 to be opened to the general public. In the early years of the villa, Satow’s friend Isabella Bird stayed here for a month and wrote of the impressive landscape of the villa. The British Embassy Villa Memorial Park presents exhibitions on British culture and the history of Oku-Nikko as an international summer resort. Visitors can immerse themselves in this historic setting while enjoying teatime in the villa (additional charges apply) and take in the picturesque view of Lake Chuzenji from the spacious veranda on the upper floor.

A famous temple built in Muromachi period Daioji Temple belongs to Soto Zen and has over 600 years history. Buildings in the temple are almost thatching that remain the Muromachi architectural style, 7 of these are designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan. This temple is nearby the Kurobane Castle Park, and was protected by Ozeki clan who ruled Kurobane domain during Edo period.   16 Arhat Statues that have different expressions Walking on Daioji Temple’s stone steps, visitors can find 16 Arhat Statues stand around the step. Each of them has different expression, such as laughing, looking angry or shouting.These statues was built in 1995 for celebrating the 600 anniversaries of Daioji Temple.   Have a Zazen experience in Zen monastery Visitors can try a Zazen experience without any cost at Daioji Temple. If you are interested in Japanese traditional culture, no matter where you from, which religion you belong, everyone is welcomed to experience. All experiences in Daioji Temple need reservation. Make sure you take reservation at least 1 week before your visiting.

The roadside station “Michi-no-Eki Nikko Kaido Nikoniko Honjin” held a grand opening to the public on 27 April 2015. It is located at the junction of three highways known as the Nikko Cedar Avenue (Nikko-Kaido， Aizunishi-Kaido and Reiheishi-Kaido)， in the city centre of Nikko. The roadside station is a hub for tourism and transportation that leads visitors to sights such as the UNESCO World Heritage “Shrines and Temples of Nikko” and one of Japan’s most popular hot spring towns， “Kinugawa and Kawaji Onsen”. Nikko’s official “Michi-no-Eki” is home to a commemorative museum to the famous local composer Toru Funamura as well as restaurants and shops offering original local products， locally produced vegetable and fruits. A wide range of events take place in the performance hall and open space throughout the year.

Nasu Kogen Minamigaoka Farm is situated in the highlands 700 metres above sea level at the foot of Mount Nasu. The farm has maintained its natural landscape since its foundation. There are a wide range of activities on offer such as horse riding, butter making, archery and miniature golf. Visitors can enjoy fresh milk, dairy products and processed foods with a magnificent view of the Nasunogahara fields.

Michi-no-Eki(Roadside Rest Stops) Nasu Kogen Yuai no Mori is located at the foot of Nasu Onsen-kyo. It features a wide variety of facilities including a tourist information centre called “Kanko Koryu Centre”，“Nasutoran”a restaurant，retail shop, and handicrafts gallery among other facilities. . Visitors can purchase fresh local vegetables at the shop called “Freainosato Chokubaijo” and local products at the Furusato Bussan Centre. The roadside station also offers hands-on classes，demonstrations and sales of local arts and crafts. The information centre is located at the foot of Mount Nasu and there are many attractions in the neighbourhood including leisure facilities and museums.

Okashi-no-Shiro Nasu Heartland (Sweets Castle Nasu Heartland) is a confectionery studio that produces baked goods and cakes using the finest ingredients. There is a tour space where visitors can see the confectionery production process up close. There are also other hands-on facilities such as crafts, strawberry picking, and hot spring bathing facilities.   <Nasu Kogen Ichigo no Mori Strawberry Picking Farm> From December to May every year, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat strawberry picking for 30 minutes. The varieties are "Tochiotome" and "Tochiaika". (Selection required) Enjoy the sweet and juicy strawberries that are in season in winter to your heart's content.   <Nasu Hana to Taiken no Mori (Nasu Flower and Experience Forest)> In addition to being able to experience crafts such as making wreaths and herbariums, there are many other experiences available, such as a sweets-making experience that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike, and a walking trail where you can enjoy forest bathing.   <Gensen Nasu Zan Reiwa no Yu (Source Hot Spring)> This is a day-trip bathing facility built in the style of a Japanese house. The spring water is a chloride hot spring, which is gentle on the skin and warms both the body and soul from the core.

Aplil 2020， Roadside station Takanezawa Genki Appu Villege open.Roadside station is the rest house located in the open roads equipped with parking lots， rest rooms， restaurants and souvenir shops selling local products. Roadside station Takanezawa has hot springs and glamping facility. You can enjoy camping with luxurious accommodations and comfortable amenities.

In 1985， Shojinzawa Spring Water was selected as one of “the 100 most exquisite and well-conserved water sources in Japan” by the Ministry of Environment. The spring is located on a hillside of Mount Takahara， surrounded by hundred-year-old primeval forests. The crystal clear water springs out at more than 10 locations and is around 11 degrees in temperature throughout the year， never freezing or running dry even in winter.

Made in 1890， the Nogi-machi Brick Kiln is a Hoffmann kiln that belonged to the former Shimotsuke brick manufacturer and was a major contributor to Nogi’s industrialisation. This is the only perfectly original Hoffmann kiln in Japan and is designated as an Important Cultural Property. It is in the shape of a hexadecagon (a 16-sided polygon) and is 34 metres in height and 100 metres in circumference. The kiln baked up to 408，000 bricks per year during the 80 years between 1890 and 1971. The conservation and repair work on the kiln was completed in September 2015 and the kiln was open to the public on 10 May 2016. The Nogi Koryu Centre (known as the “Nogi Hoffmann Kan”) was built and opened to the public at the same time. The centre offers activities and workshops as well as original goods and light meals. The Mibu Highway Park at Michi-no-Eki Mibu is a roadside station connected to the Mibu PA (motorway rest area) and conveniently located between both the motorway and the local highway (route 71). Located in the centre of the local municipality， the “Mirai-kan” information centre at the Mibu Highway Park is a hub for tourism offering information， local products and fresh local vegetables. Along with the Mibu Highway Park， Michi-no-Eki Mibu has Tochigi Wanpaku Park and Mibu-machi Toy Museum within its vast 52.5-hectare grounds. A great place for a break or a whole family day out.

The Ohata Musha-e (warrior paintings) Museum is housed in a private residence originally built 300 years ago. The exhibition includes Musha-e Nobori banners from the Edo period (1603-1867) as well as hand-painted Musha-e homeware such as porcelain pieces， vases， folding screens and wallpapers.

The former Kibata elementary school is now open to the public as a traditional village offering a wide range of activities including farming experience， pottery classes and noodle， tofu and Konjac making workshops. The venue has a café as well as camping and barbeque areas.

Mount Kamakura towers 100 metres above the Nakagawa River and is 216 metres above sea level. The summit affords the most fantastic views in all of the Nakagawa Prefectural Natural Park.   The best viewing season is from late-October to mid-December when the area is blanketed with a layer of misty clouds, a phenomenon arising from the mixture of the cool mountain air and the warm waters of the Nakagawa River. During early and mid-November, when misty clouds glow in the morning sun, views of the autumn mountain foliage are mesmerising.   Come and see this renowned late-autumn scenery!

The Mashiko Pottery Museum exhibits the works of the late Shoji Hamada， a designated National Treasure along with related works and high quality pieces by local artists. The former residence of Shoji Hamada was moved to the site including a replica of his climbing kiln.

Established in 1849， Shimazaki Sake Brewery is open for tours of the brewery and the history of the brewing process (prior bookings required). Along with a selection of local Sake， you can purchase other liqueurs made from Yuzu， strawberries or Ume plums and Sake ice cream made with Ginjo-shu. The “Sakagura Festival” held at the brewery in March offers sake-tasting， quizzes， prize draws and sales of limited edition Sake bottles.

Built in 1987， Mikaeri Suspension Bridge stretches 100 metres across and 30 metres over Shiobara Gorge. The bridge is known as the starting point of the Shiobara Gorge walking trail and has a charm unique from the magnificent neighbouring Momijidani Suspension Bridge. Cross the Mikaeri Suspension Bridge and walk a further 10 metres to the observation deck for incredible views of Mikaeri Falls.

Known as the city of steam locomotives， the railway museum “Mooka Raiway SL Kyuroku (96) Kan” is located here in Mooka. The collection includes Japan’s only self-driving 9600 steam locomotive with a compressed air engine， along with a D51 steam locomotive and the old-style passenger train “Suhafu 4425”. The self-driving 9600 steam locomotive runs three times a day (at 10am， 12pm and 2:30pm) on Saturdays， Sundays and public holidays and visitors can ride in the guard’s van (300 yen per person).
