Hakone museum of art is the oldest museum in Hakone. The museum opened in Hakone-cho Gora in 1952. The museum displays Asian and Japanese ceramics that have been collected by the founder of the museum Mokichi Okada before his death. The exhibition mainly consists of “Japanese Yakimono (ceramics)”.Collections are: Mino wares such as Shino, Oribe, and Kiseto from Momoyama to Edo era, pots and jars of Six Old Kilns of Japan (Tokoname, Seto, Shigaraki, Tanba, Bizen, and Echizen) from Kamakura to Muromachi era, and earthenware and haniwa (a hollow clay) from Jomon era.There is Japanese garden with “Koke Niwa”, “Hagi no michi”, “Take Niwa”. There are over 130 kinds of mosses and 200 Japanese maples, which create beautiful scene in all four seasons. Any visitors are welcomed to view the garden.It is rare to see the place like Hakone museum since they have great ceramics and Japanese gardens at the same time. The path leading to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, called “dankazura,” extends approximately 500 meters from the second torii gate to the shrine itself. In 1182, Minamoto no Yoritomo, the first shogun of Japan, built the traditional street to the shrine as he prayed for the safe delivery of his wife, Masako. Cherry blossoms and azaleas are planted to the left and right, and the scenery is breathtaking during the flower season.

Soba Noodle Restaurant "Shirakawa-go" is on the 1st floor of the Yamashita House located in the center of Nihon Minka-en. This house is an old folk house with a large gassho-zukuri-style thatched roof, which is designated an important cultural property of Kanagawa prefecture. The soba noodle served here is made of spring water obtained from Oshino village in Yamanashi prefecture.

Thirty mins by car from the center of Kamakura City. Hojo Kanezawa’s family constructed in the Kamakura Period by Sanetoki Hojo. This shrine is dedicated to Prince Shinno Morinaga, the son of Emperor Godaigo, who devoted himself to overthrowing the Kamakura Shogunate. In 1869, Emperor Meiji built a shrine at the place where Prince Morinaga passed away and named it "Kamakura Shrine" in honor of him.
