Kamakura Seaside Park Yuigahama Area

The Kamakura Seaside Park faces the coastlines of Yuigahama Beach and Inamuragasaki. The area is divided into three districts: The Yuigahama area with an open grassy square and playground equipment, the Inamuragasaki area which is a historical site with an observation deck, and the Sakanoshita area which is right by the sea. Loved by many people, the area offers views of Izu Oshima Island and the Izu Peninsula on sunny days. The Inamuragasaki area makes use of the natural geography and has an open grassy lawn where visitors can enjoy beautiful views. In the winter, Mt Fuji is sometimes visible in the background behind views of Enoshima. It is also a designated historical site well known for the legendary story of Nitta Yoshisada’s campaign.

Kannonzaki Prefectural Lighthouse

Kannonzaki Prefectural Lighthouse

The Kannonsaki Lighthouse is Japan's first Western-style lighthouse, designed by the Frenchman, F.L. Verny. He was invited in 1977 from his home country as a foreign engineer and pioneer of Western culture in Japan. The lighthouse collapsed later in an earthquake and was rebuilt, with the current being the third version. Located in the scenic Kannonsaki Park, it features views of boats sailing in Tokyo Bay, as well as the Boso Peninsula on the opposite shore. The lighthouse has an exhibition and reference room, where valuable materials such as lighthouse lenses are displayed. Please contact Tokokai for any inquiries (see website).

Togakuin Temple (Azalea Temple)

Togakuin Temple (Azalea Temple)

Shiboku-san Togakuin Temple is a temple of the Tendai sect of Buddhism, and there are few records of its history. Passing through the Niomon Gate, visitors will enter a manicured azalea garden and continue along the approach to the main hall, which was rebuilt during the Ansei Era. Various events such as Zen meditation sessions, sutra reading sessions, and numerous other workshops are held here. The events are also posted on YouTube and other social networking sites.

Aka-Renga Soko (Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse)

A cultural and commercial facility that utilizes a historic building built over 100 years ago. Various shops and restaurants line the halls, which still retain the features of the original warehouse. In addition, there are also spaces for exhibits and dance and theatre performances, where the fascinating art and culture is showcased to both locals and visitors.At the facility's outdoor event plaza, various seasonal events, such as Yokohama Oktoberfest and Christmas Market at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, are held and visited by many people.Another attractive feature is the facility's sea-facing location, where you can have the opportunity to relax on the lawn and enjoy views of boats passing through the harbour, Minatomirai, and cruise ship trips from the pier opposite. At night, the building's red bricks are lit up in orange, creating a fantastic atmosphere that contrasts to the daytime.A pair of handsome restored former warehouses in an attractive waterfront location, Akarenga Sogo is now an elegant, enjoyable place to shop and dine. Look out for seasonal events such as a Christmas market and outdoor skating rink, and Oktoberfest beer festival.

It is also famous as a shopping street where you can buy the "Yokosuka jumper," or "Sukajan," and eat Yokosuka's gourmet "Yokosuka Navy Curry" and "Yokosuka Navy Burger".Take advantage of Dobuita Street’s Yokosuka Navy Burger Map to help guide your Japanese-American food experience. The map highlights all the hamburger spots with images and descriptions of the delicious dishes. If you are staying in the area for a few days, try to hit all the restaurants!

Odawara Castle Tenshukaku

Odawara Castle is an impregnable castle that was designated as a national historic site and preserved through reconstruction and restoration. The first to fifth floors of the castle tower introduce the history of the castle from the Edo period to the present day. From the observation deck on the top floor, which is approximately 60 meters above sea level, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Sagami Bay. In Odawara Castle Ruins Park, visitors can enjoy a variety of flowers and plants throughout the year, including cherry blossoms, wisteria, irises, and ume (Japanese plum).Exhibits specializing in weapons such as armor and swords are held to introduce the spirituality of the samurai and the art of the weapons.This castle provides a fun time reliving the medieval era. Inside the castle is an excellent museum and outside, near the back, you can try on the armor of a ninja warrior for a memorable picture of your visit.The lovely contrast between Odawara Castle’s white castle tower and the pale pink of the cherry blossoms can be seen every year from late March to early April. When night falls at Odawara Castle’s Honmaru Square, they hold the “Odawara Castle Cherry Blossom Light-up: Night Cherry Blossoms Dyed in Light” event, creating an even more magical atmosphere.Odawara Castle Hydrangea and Iris Festival: Odawara Castle is designated as one of Japan's Top 100 Castles. In the iris garden located in the east moat of the Odawara Castle Keep, visitors can enjoy about 10,000 iris flowers in full bloom from early to mid June. The garden will be lit up at night which creates a mysterious vista.

Kishamichi Promenade

Kishamichi Promenade

A promenade made by overhauling a dead track used by the former Japan National Railways that opened in 1911. It consists of three bridges connecting the Nihonmaru Memorial Park to the Shinko area. Skyscrapers of the Minatomirai area can be viewed from this 500-meter long boardwalk. Rubblework constructed at the time of the opening of the railways, a US-made railroad bridge and other historical structures are left in their original places. The Unga Park located at the end of Kisha Michi in the Shinko area has a plaza facing the promenade.

Yomiuri Land

Yomiuri Land

Our amusement park is full of attractions both children and adults can enjoy. Our roller coaster "Bandet" runs through the forest at a maximum speed of 110 kilometers per hour, perfect for the adult thrill-seeker. The scenery is spectacular from the highest point, standing at 51m from the ground. We also have an attraction called "Wandet" for the children still not able to ride the adult rides, as well as a children's pool open in summer. Please check the website for the latest information.

The Kamakura Prince Hotel is located on a small hill. Here you can enjoy evening views of Sagami Bay, Enoshima, and Mt. Fuji. There are plenty of sunny days from December to March. The air is clear, and you can see the forms of Mt. Fuji, Enoshima, the Izu Peninsula appearing during the sunset. If you have dinner at the Restaurant Le Trianon during sunset time, you can indulge in this spectacular view with a glass of wine in your hand. Soji-ji Temple

Soji-ji Temple

Soji-ji is the main temple of the Soto sect and one of the largest temples in the Kanto region. Originally located in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, it was relocated to Tsurumi in 1911, and contains vast grounds featuring architectural complexes, including the Daseido. Visitors may explore the grounds freely, with the halls of the temple also open to visitors under the supervision of monks. *A 1-hour round-trip course. ※ The experience contains a Zen meditation session in English and vegetarian food tasting. Places for viewing the auditorium on the temple grounds may be restricted due to infectious disease control measures.A temple located in Tsurumigaoka, a scenic place with views of the sacred Mt. Fuji. Open-to-all Zen meditation sessions are held every month on designated days and instruction is available in English on certain days.
