It was relocated and restored to its current location in Motomachi Park in 1990. The first floor features a reception room with a fireplace, a combined living and dining room, and a sunroom overlooking the garden furnished with pieces designed by Raymond, while the second floor houses an exhibition on Western-style houses in Yamate. The basement is available for rental as a free-use space and includes a tea room utilizing the former kitchen area. One of eight restored Western Houses in the Yokohama, Yamate area, this is most beautiful in autumn and during the Christmas season. Sarushima

Sarushima

Sarushima is the only deserted island in the Tokyo Bay area and is also the biggest natural island. Here you can enjoy many activities such as barbecue, fishing, and strolling around major historical ruins. It takes approximately 30 minutes to get there by boat from the Keikyu Line Yokosuka Chuo Station. (The boats to Sarushima have different capacities, ranging from 80 people to 200 people maximum depending on the season.) This easily accessible sightseeing spot is designated as a National Historic Site.Sarushima was originally a defensive outpost. These brick tunnels, alongside other abandoned structures, are signs of its military history. Before or after getting the boat to Sarushima, we recommend checking out the memorial warship Mikasa, which is in Mikasa Park adjacent to the pier. Mikasa is the oldest surviving steel battleship in the world and is recognized as a Cultural Property of Japan. On board, you will find a great number of historical exhibits. Additionally, on the first floor of the Mikasa Terminal (opened in July 2020), you can buy tickets for the boat to Sarushima, as well as souvenirs and light meals. There is also a tourist information center. We recommend that you visit the Sarushima Visitor Center on the second floor while you wait for the boat. There is no reservation system for boarding, so please arrive well in advance of your desired departure time. The Mikasa Terminal is also the base for landing tours to Tokyo Bay's No.2 Sea Fort.

The area is abundant with seafood such as shirasu, Ise Shrimp, sashimi, sazae and clams, all of which are very popular local cuisines to the tourists. When the tide is low, people flock to Chigogafuchi Abyss to take in the panoramic views of the sea and the magnificent skyline. The Chigogafuchi Rest House is a two-story building offering visitors a place to sit down and have a bite to eat before or after exploring the Iwaya Caves.Connected to the Chigogafuchi Abyss is the Sunset Reef. As the name suggests, it offers a stunning view of the sun setting into the sea. During the seasons of low tide, various marine life can be seen swimming amongst the reef, making it a popular fishing spot. The First Cavern is 152 metres long, and can be accessed by taking the left-side path where the cave splits at the entrance. When you walk further into the cavern, the cave splits again into two. Because of the extremely cold winds that sometime blow from the left-side path, it is rumored that the cave is somehow connected to Mt. Fuji, but this cannot be confirmed as it is closed to the public. On scenic Enoshima Island you can see historical temples, stroll around a botanical garden, take in the view from the lighthouse, or cool off in a cave created by the sea. In summer, the neighbouring beaches are lined with fun temporary bars.
