The Kamimizo Summer Festival has been held in Sagamihara since the end of the Edo period (1603-1868). The festival is said to be dedicated to Emperor Ushira, who prays for a good harvest and safety of the family, and is said to have been inspired by the Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto. On Sunday evenings, the local portable shrines (Mikoshi) and floats (Dashi) gather from each town and start a grand procession. Once the evening sun goes down, the lanterns of the portable shrines are lit, creating a fantastic spectacle that is not to be missed.

Araiya's signature dish "Gyu-nabe (beef pot)" has been loved by customers through years ever since we opened the restaurant 120 years ago. Our Gyu-nabe is a fruit of tradition and ingenious attempts. Storehouse style buildings scattered in the Misaki Shitamachi Shotengai create an atmosphere of Showa period. The Shotengai offers various specialty foods, including Misaki Tuna. Annual events are: "Chakkirako (UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage)" on January 15, and "Miura Yoichi" in August.

TIVOLI is confection maker which opened in November 2017 that produces assorted cookies and boasts the top share in the domestic market. This is their only facility for factory tours and direct retail. The theme is “sweet factory for the five senses.” From the second floor, visitors can observe the staff working and the robots moving nimbly as the sweets are produced. They also offer opportunities for guests to try making their own sweets. Small children can also participate. Guests can also enjoy learning about confection production and eat the freshly baked goodies.

On the theme of SAMURAI, we offer Zen, Iai (sword-drawing) and Sado (tea ceremony) programs with authentic location, people, and objects at a Zen Buddhist temple steeped in nature. The temple, with a history of about 600 years, is located in Kamakura, a popular tourist spot. You can reserve the entire place and enjoy a program in quiet surroundings.

This high-quality cruiser is endowed with stylish exterior design and modern interior. You can have a guided view of industrial night views, container berths, and other industrial locations from the ocean.

The Shonandai Cultural Center is a large facility with unique buildings such as a large globe, a civic theater and children's hall, and a community center. The children's museum has an exhibition hall where children can learn hands-on while having fun playing with toys from around the world and ethnic musical instruments. We also offer a planetarium with live commentary, a “space theater” with realistic full-dome movies, and a workshop room where many workshops are held.

The Odawara Plum Festival is held from early February through early march each year. The Soga Plum Forest is the primary venue, and that is made up of three areas: Bessho, Hara, and Nakagawara. Each is operated primarily by the farmhouses that are located there. Bessho is the largest of the three, and features a citrus and vegetable stands, souvenirs, eateries, and more.

Located on the second floor of the fish market, Uoza offers fresh seafood with a beautiful view of Manazuru. BBQ is also now available on the terrace, where you can enjoy your food without having to bring anything (advance reservation required).

After being discontinued as a central wholesale market in 2015, this commercial facility was opened in September 2019 as a part of the Nanbu Market Restructuring Project. Built around the concept of "a live food market and center for exchange where people can connect with the local community through food", it houses stores selling fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, and meat, as well as bakeries and Western and Japanese restaurants. There is also a grassy plaza with a view of the sea, a rental space called 'Nanbu Base' with a kitchen attached, and an outdoor BBQ area, all making for a comfortable place for relaxing with family and friends. We will continue to strive to be a place loved by the whole community.

The clear water from Oashigawa River flows through Oashi Canyon making it a wonderful natural scenic spot. There are nearly 20 different waterfalls， both large and small， and the view from the Otaki large waterfall is， especially during the autumnal changing of the leaves， breathtaking. There are also scattered spots for playing in the river， camping and fishing， making the site great for all kinds of leisure."

The Mashiko Pottery Museum exhibits the works of the late Shoji Hamada， a designated National Treasure along with related works and high quality pieces by local artists. The former residence of Shoji Hamada was moved to the site including a replica of his climbing kiln.

Since its founding in 1900, Kamakura Ham Tomioka Co. has continued to maintain its painstaking manufacturing techniques for over a century. Their headquarters factory has an archive where you can learn about the story and history behind the creation of the brand, and in the factory itself, you can view the treasured traditional manufacturing techniques they use. You can also experience those techniques with your own hands. There is also a shop where you can purchase souvenirs before you head home.

This is a long-established Japanese confectionery established in the Keio era. The specialty is "Oyama Manju" made of brown sugar produced in Hateruma, Okinawa. Around 160 years have passed since its establishment, and "Oyama Manjiu" is still freshly made by hand every day.

It is said that the ume (plum) groves were first planted by the Hojo clan during the Warring States period to provide food for the troops (some theories exist). Among the three plum groves: Bessho, Hara and Nakagawara, around 35,000 plum trees are in full bloom during the correct season and are framed by Mt. Fuji and Hakone.
