The Lakehouse the restaurant offers you a garden gastronomy experience with seasonal local vegetables. Starring unique vegetables grown in the great nature of Tochigi Prefecture, dishes are prepared with carefully selected cooking methods using many herbs and spices. Here, you can enjoy multi-course meals for you to savor the flavor of the ingredients. Décor in the dining hall including sketches and pressed flowers of animals and plants found at Lake Chuzenji as well as lighting and artworks inspired by fishing will enhance your lakeside dining experience. The restaurant also has the takeout menu “Grab & Go,” including sandwiches with a lot of seasonal local vegetables, smoothies, cookies, coffee and other drinks. Please drop by and grab some for a picnic or a walk around the area.

Chuzenji Temple was established by Shodo Shonin in Nikko-zan in 784. Enshrining Nikko’s oldest Buddha statue, which is six-meters tall and was carved in a standing Japanese judas tree, the temple is a prayer temple (where visitors pray to the Buddha). Juzu, or prayer beads on a string, is one of the ritual items that people use to count how many times they have read a sutra or recited Buddha’s name. According to Siddhartha Gautama, praying to the Buddha repeatedly will remove earthly desires from people and make them happy. Those who visit to pay respect to the temple can join the prayer beads craft workshop. They can choose beads of their taste, made of natural stone and/or natural wood, with a wish in their minds to create a bracelet-shaped juzu. Their juzu becomes nenju when monks offer a prayer at the gomadan (fire ritual platform), and they can take it home as a wearable lucky charm.

Torinoko Sansho Shrine consists of a main hall, a worship hall, a tower gate, a Torii gate (at the prefectural border of Tochigi and Ibaraki) and the main shrine. The shrine is known for its lucky owl, a messenger from the god who brings good luck. The temple complex contains the nation’s largest statue of an owl, an owl post, an owl bell and an owl statue on which visitors pour water to wash their troubles away. Other notable sites include a miraculous turtle well that has never dried up and the building known as Gochiin where famous feudal lord Mitsukuni Tokugawa once stayed.

Izuruhara Benten Pond, the source of the Izuru River, is designated a Prefectural Natural Treasure and was selected as one of the nation’s clearest water sources by the Ministry of Environment. Take a look down into the transparent water and you will find Koi fish with sparkling scales swimming gracefully over swaying water plants. Samples of the pristine water are available to take home from the neighbouring Ichinokan hotel. Be sure to take a close look at the main building of Isoyama Benzaiten Shrine. Reconstructed in the Kamakura period (1185-1333)， this cultural property is constructed without nails and displays the beauty of traditional Japanese architectural methods. Isoyama Benzaiten (nicknamed Fuzai) is a goddess of music, arts and knowledge and is one of seven lucky Sano gods built here in 948. The Benzaiten Shrine was moved here at the request of “Suisha-ko”, a group of devout local worshippers.

Centered around the Red Brick Warehouse, this green space both preserves and utilizes historical features such as the Remains of Yokohama Custom House and the Former Yokohama Minato Station Platform, creating a site that highlights both history and scenery.

This sightseeing boat allows visitors to enjoy an easy underwater walk. In the observation room, the bottom of the ship is made of glass, allowing you to see what is going on under the sea. You will be able to feel as if you are swimming with the fishes.

Viewing Period: late September to early October (best time for viewing: when the equinox flowers blossom). In the Endo area of northern Fujisawa, equinox flowers grow in groups along a small river for around 3km in length. Enjoy the view of flowers surrounding you everywhere as you take a walk. There are 4 large wild cherry blossom trees called 'Oyama Sakura' on the hill from Oyama elementary school to Oyama Afuri Shrine.

Drive in to Cape Manazuru located at the tip of the Manazuru Peninsula Prefectural Nature Park. From Cape Manzuru, you can enjoy a view of the Izu Peninsula, Shonan, Boso Peninsula and Izu Seven Islands. The panorama stretching out to the sea is a highlight not to be missed.

This bus carries you from Yokohama Station to Nogeyama Zoo, a free zoo which is rare nowadays, in about 20 minutes. The bus runs between Yokohama Station/Sakuragi-cho Station and Nogeyama Zoo.

The Egara Tenjin Shrine was built in the Heian period. Together with the Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, it is known as one of the three oldest Shinto shrines in Japan. Since Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of the shrine, excelled in academics, it is popular as a place to pray for success in academics and entrance examinations. The shrine is also famous for its two brush mounds associated with Showa and Heisei-era cartoonists.

Kujientobunsui was registered tangible cultural property in 1998 (Heisei 10). It regulates the quantity of the water diversion utilizing principle of siphon.
