Michi-no-Eki(Roadside Rest Stops) Nasu Kogen Yuai no Mori is located at the foot of Nasu Onsen-kyo. It features a wide variety of facilities including a tourist information centre called “Kanko Koryu Centre”,“Nasutoran”a restaurant,retail shop, and handicrafts gallery among other facilities. . Visitors can purchase fresh local vegetables at the shop called “Freainosato Chokubaijo” and local products at the Furusato Bussan Centre. The roadside station also offers hands-on classes,demonstrations and sales of local arts and crafts. The information centre is located at the foot of Mount Nasu and there are many attractions in the neighbourhood including leisure facilities and museums.

Okashi-no-Shiro Nasu Heartland (Sweets Castle Nasu Heartland) is a confectionery studio that produces baked goods and cakes using the finest ingredients. There is a tour space where visitors can see the confectionery production process up close. There are also other hands-on facilities such as crafts, strawberry picking, and hot spring bathing facilities.   <Nasu Kogen Ichigo no Mori Strawberry Picking Farm> From December to May every year, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat strawberry picking for 30 minutes. The varieties are "Tochiotome" and "Tochiaika". (Selection required) Enjoy the sweet and juicy strawberries that are in season in winter to your heart's content.   <Nasu Hana to Taiken no Mori (Nasu Flower and Experience Forest)> In addition to being able to experience crafts such as making wreaths and herbariums, there are many other experiences available, such as a sweets-making experience that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike, and a walking trail where you can enjoy forest bathing.   <Gensen Nasu Zan Reiwa no Yu (Source Hot Spring)> This is a day-trip bathing facility built in the style of a Japanese house. The spring water is a chloride hot spring, which is gentle on the skin and warms both the body and soul from the core.

Tenpyo-no-Oka Park

Tenpyo-no-Oka Park

The vast grounds of Tenpyo-no-Oka Park consist of pristine forest containing a number of historic sites. A great number of visitors come to the Tempyo flower festival held in mid to late April when the 450 double-flowered cherry trees bloom. Enjoy strolling through the woods and travel back in time with a visit to one or more of the various museums in the park. The “Botchan Bus” departs from in front of the folklore museum for a 15-minute circumnavigation of the park – popular for families and perfect for sightseeing. A popular sight is the stone-walled keyhole-shaped ancient tomb of Kunimiyama. Clap your hands under the stairs in the ring-shaped area of the tomb, and hear the echoing sounds of a roaring dragon reverberate back from the large stone above. On the first Sunday of November the Tenpyo Imoni Festival is held here serving home-style Imoni soup to 3,000 guests. The soup is made with local produce including dried gourd strips, taro roots and leeks in a huge pot measuring 2.5 metres across. ☆

Nasu Onsen-kyo is a spread out hot spring resort on the slopes of Mt. Nasudake,the main peak of the Nasu mountains. The origin of the Onsen-kyo is “Shikanoyu” discovered in the 7th century.The “Shikanoyu(deer spring)” was named after locals witnessed an injured deer completely heal after jumping into the steaming pool. It's been renowned for its healing powers ever since. Historic visitors include Yoritomo Minamoto,a great samurai of 12th century,and Basho Matsuo,a famous poet of 17th century. Onsen styles vary from modern hotels in the highland to traditional wooden baths where you can try bathing in more than one spot to feel the difference.

They offer a wide variety of custard desserts including ‘Nikko pudding’ with a silky smooth, creamy texture, ‘Otome-pudding’ using strawberries harvested in Tochigi Prefecture, and ‘Pudding with ice cream,’ which is a custard pudding topped with a tower of vanilla soft serve ice cream. Ryumon Folk Crafts Museum

The Ryumon Folk Crafts Museum is located near the Ryumon Falls, and the observation deck attached to the museum is the best place to see the magnificent view of the falls. In addition to displaying dragons, the museum also features animations of local folk tales and legends, and sells souvenirs from Nasukarasuyama City.   On the way to Ryumon Falls from the Ryumon Folk Crafts Museum, there is an excellent hiking trail, so you can follow it all the way to the bottom of the waterfall and experience the rapid flow of the waterfall from a close distance. The most famous feature of Ryumon Falls is the spectacle of the tram passing over the falls, and with the changes in the natural scenery during the four seasons, the composition of the tram and the waterfalls has become a famous location for photographers and railroad fans. The product lineup includes cookies, based on an original recipe that combines Japanese and Western flavors, and baked confectionery such as pies. The signature Biscuit Series (Cookies) has three variations: Cheese Biscuits (Pastel), Sansho Pepper Biscuits (Loire), and Maple Caramel Biscuits. All of them are carefully made at a factory directly managed by the Kanaya Resorts group. The shop has a modern Japanese style café with the interior design emphasizing wood grains. Shinonome Flower Festival

Shinonome Flower Festival

"Shinonome Flower Festival" is held at Shinonome Park from late March to early April. The sight of approximately 250 cherry trees lined up along both banks of the Kurokawa River all blooming at once is spectacular.   From the Shinonome Sakura Bridge, which is located in the park and connects the east and west banks of the Kurokawa River, visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of Mt. Nantai and blooming cherry trees. the Shinonome Sakuradai on both banks of the Kurokawa River is one of the 100 most scenic spots in Tochigi.   The nearby roadside rest stops, the Mibu Exchange Center "Miraikan", the Mibu Toy Museum, and the Toy Town Bandai Museum, also hold a variety of events in conjunction with the Shinonome Flower Festival.
