This is the scene of the Namamugi Incident in 1862, where British merchants were slashed when they interrupted the procession of Shimazu Hisamitsu, the feudal lord of Satsuma. As revenge, the British bombarded Kagoshima, resulting in the Anglo-Satsuma War. However, as a result of the war, ties between Satsuma and Britain were strengthened, encouraging modernization. These Anglo-Satsuma ties became the centre of the Meiji Restoration.

The Zama sunflower was established as the city flower of Zama City in 1969, and was selected as one of the "100 best places for flowers in Kanagawa" in 1994. A total of 550,000 flowers bloom over a total area of 5.5ha, and a sunflower festival is held every year.Add an artsy touch to your photos during the Kurihara festival by posing with props supplied by the festival. These free foot baths are located at the plaza in front of Tobu Railway Kinugawa-onsen Station. The simple alkaline springs are said to relive conditions such as nerve pain and muscle soreness. The baths are often visited by tourists after a day of exploring or trekking in Kinugawa. They are also used as a meeting place by locals."

This ancient shrine is said to have been built over 2,000 years ago. As a sacred site revered by many warlords, such as those who partook in rainmaking rituals, and pilgrimages to the shrine became very popular during the Edo period. Rinkokaku is a complex of three wooden buildings that served as a state guest house for VIPs. The main building was constructed in 1884 and is an exemplary instance of Japanese architecture at the beginning of Japan's modernization. The complex overlooks the Tone River from its location next to Maebashi Park, which is particularly popular for its cherry blossoms in spring. The Rinkokaku annex, built in 1910, continues to be used for receptions today.

The Uzuma River Andon (Lantern) Festival is being held July 1 - September 30 every year. Festival goers enjoy 135 historic Edo-style paper lanterns displayed along the Uzuma River, from the Kaiun to Korai bridges and around Uzuma Park. Each unique lantern is intricately and handsomely decorated with paper-cut designs of floats and traditional warehouses. Lighting time is 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm daily, adding an exotic and nostalgic atmosphere to the town post-sunset. On the first Sunday of August, the Hyaku Hatto Nagashi Festival is also held."

The Utsunomiya Fireworks festival is an annual event that takes place on the second Saturday of August, held at Dojojuku Field. This festival is the largest fireworks in Kanto area with 20,000 fireworks being set off into the sky.

There are 5000 hydrangeas in this rice paddy area the size of 3.6 Tokyo Domes. Enjoy a leisurely walk as you take in the sights of the fields green with the newly planted rice, and the vibrant colours of the blooming hydrangeas. One of the highlights is the Hydrangea Pond in the main venue, Hydrangea Park, where approximately 2,000 hydrangeas float on the water.

Houan is a traditional tea house built in 1934 in the forested valley behind Jochiji Temple in Kita-Kamakura. It features a building with two tea rooms (Jouan-ken)—one 8-mat and one 4-mat room, and the world's smallest tea house, the thatched-roof Musouan, measuring just under 2 mats. It is normally closed to the public, but just once a month, a tea house opens its doors to serve matcha and high-grade sweets to visitors freely touring the premises (reservation required). Information about various tea gatherings, introductory sessions for beginners, and traditional Japanese arts classes is posted on the official website and social media. They also accommodate inquiries for small-group tea ceremony experiences and tea gatherings for international visitors.
