The Kanagawa Yamato Antique Market is sure to satisfy everyone from beginners to collectors. Many foreign visitors also visit. The market is open from 7am to 4pm, rain or shine.

Founded in 1394 by Soto Zen monk Ryoan Emyo Zenji, this ancient temple is a Soto sect training center renowned as one of the sect's three major prayer temples. Its natural beauty changes with the seasons, with its autumn foliage illuminated at night for seasonal viewing. Prayer services, zazen meditation experiences, and shojin-ryori vegetarian cuisine are available (reservation required). Temple legends feature tengu (mountain bird-like goblins), and the main hall enshrines the world's largest iron geta (wooden clogs).A unique aspect of this temple is its larger than life geta. These wooden sandals are left out for the tengu, winged spirits, that guard the temple grounds. The shoes vary in size, and some are even as tall as humans. Be sure not to miss this popular photography spot!One of the most sacred places in the Kanto region. Zen meditation sessions are held every second and fourth Sunday and Buddhist statue carving lessons every second and fourth Saturday of the month. There are spiritual spot tours around the grounds and other events as well.

Skiing/snowboarding school are offered to beginners, so it is a perfect place for getting started before the peak season.

The Shonan Hiratsuka Tanabata Festival was started as a postwar commercial revitalization initiative, and is characterized by the vibrance of its Tanabata decorations, said to be the most lavish in Japan, made possible by the city's commercial power. Approximately 300 ornaments fill the streets of the city center, centered in the main venue, Shonan Star Mall, with gorgeous decorations, some reaching over 5 meters in height! In the evening, the decorations are lit up, creating an even more beautiful and impressive sight. During the festival, various events are held, including a Tanabata decoration competition and a parade. The festival has developed into one of Japan's most representative summer traditions, with the Shonan Hiratsuka Orihime, chosen through a contest, participating in various events, such as parades and visits to the city, further livening up the Tanabata festival.Held every July, Tanabata is a vibrant festival celebrating the one annual meeting of two celestial lovers. The bright colours of the decorations around the city and the night-time illuminations are rivaled by the beautiful kimonos worn by visitors.The Tanabata Festival, which announces the arrival of summer in Shonan, is one of the largest in Japan, along with the Sendai City Tanabata Festival in Miyagi Prefecture. About 500 gorgeous decorations are presented in the center of Hiratsuka, and at night, they are lit up to create a magical atmosphere. A parade and more than 400 stalls—selling a wide variety of things, such as Shonan gourmet foods—make the festival even more exciting.

During the outbreak of an epidemic in Ebara-gun, Musashi Province, in the Genroku era (1688-1704), Yuten Shonin (a holy priest), who was on pilgrimage, taught the local people to revere Acala, a fierce Buddhist deity. Once they began to worship Acala the plague disappeared. Migawari Fudoson Temple began when one of its halls was built to enshrine Acala in order to give thanks for such a miracle. Nowadays, worshippers visit all year round in order to pray for traffic safety and to ward off evil. Visitors can also pray at the temple for family safety, business prosperity, academic success, and general good luck. The monks at Daijoin practise waterfall meditation, and offer guidance to visitors who wish to try it themselves.

KAMAYA ~Café du Reverbere~ is a café restaurant. Dishes made with Mae Nikko Wagyu and Nikko Pork, and homemade sweets using strawberries produced in Nikko are popular here. There are also halal and vegan dishes. Renovated from a bank, the restaurant is designed as a retro-style café terrace with street lamps. It is only a one minute-walk away from the Tobu-nikko station, which is the gateway to the Nikko area. The restaurant mainly uses hand-picked local ingredients, including yuba, a specialty in Nikko. Most dishes served here are gluten-free. The restaurant’s recommendations are “NIKKO Donburi,” a rice bowl topped with a generous amount of local Mae Nikko Wagyu roast beef, and “THE NIKKO Hamburger Steak Set Using Mae Nikko Wagyu and Nikko Pork.” Both are popular dishes served daily while quantities last.

Opened on April 3, 1928, Kamakura Kokuhoukan is a museum of history and art. The former Hirobumi Ito Kanazawa Villa in Nojima Park is a building with a thatched roof built in 1898 by Hirobumi Ito, a man who served as the first Prime Minister of Japan. The villa features views of Hakkeijima and the sea.
