One of the family temples of Ashikaga City. The precincts of the temple has been designated as a national historic site and you can observe the karesansui (rock garden) while you drink matcha tea. At the Ishigama Garden Terrace, you can enjoy meals as well as observe the English garden.

The hotel is located above Sagami-Ono station by Odakyu Line. It takes approximately 40mins from Shinjuku station and directly from Odawara and Enoshima. Limousine buses from Narita Airport and Haneda Airport will bring you directly to Sagami-Ono station.

It has been selected as one of Kanagawa's 100 flower viewing spots. In the area of about 1.6 kilometers, there are approximately 300 Somei-Yoshino trees planted and they are in full bloom in the spring. It is also the main venue for the Citizen Sakura Festival and during the blooming period, you can enjoy the cherry blossoms that are lit up at night. Spots where Mt. Fuji is visible across the sea are rare even in Japan. The Enoshima area, one of those rare spots, is known for its beautiful views of Mt. Fuji where it appears quite large, especially on sunny winter days. Recommended viewpoints include Enoshima, as well as points between Katase-Enoshima Station and Enoshima; for example, Enoshima Bentenbashi Bridge, Nishihama Beach, and Kugenuma Beach. Taya-no-dokutsu (Taya Caves), located within the precincts of Josen-ji Temple on Mount Taya in the Daikaku-ji School of Shingon Buddhism, is officially called Yugado, a man-made cave dug by Buddhist ascetic monks for pilgrimages to sacred sites in Shikoku, Saigoku, Bando, and Chichibu. Josenji Temple was built in the first year of the natural calendar (1532) by high monk Takatsugu, a pupil of the highest ranking priest, Kaigen, a monk of Soshoin, a 25-bo temple in Tsurugaoka. But the cave in Taya is said to have been opened even earlier, in the Kamakura period, as a place for practicing esoteric Shingon Buddhism. Since then, from time to time the cave has been expanded and now measures 570m in actual size. The cave has three levels, upper, middle, and lower, with 17 large and small spaces connected by passageways, with walls and ceilings carved with mandalas, eighteen arhats, and Buddhist stories by Doshin Karukaya.Experience a historic Buddhist meditation cave with many beautiful wall carvings and murals. Explore the cave with a candle in hand, while entering different chambers including the meditation hall for a true spiritual experience.

From the summit, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Omoteone mountain range and Mount Fuji. There is a rest area and restroom at the summit.Please use the "Tanzawa Omote Ridge Traverse Course" as a reference and plan your hike accordingly.Early morning trekking allows you to enjoy a special experience with fewer people and clear air.

The Kaisei Awa Odori dance festival is held in mid-September and features spectacular dances performed by local residents' associations and companies, as well as by local dancers from out of town. The streets around the Kaisei Town Hall, the venue of the festival, are filled with 1,200 enthusiastic dancers.

The Hakone Old Highway is a part of the Tōkaidō Highway established by the Edo Shogunal government, and the sloping road extends for 32 km from the Mishima post station via the Hakone-toge pass to the Odawara post station. The part between the Mishima post station and the Hakone check station through the Hakone-toge pass at an elevation of 846 m had been considered the most grueling part in the Tōkaidō Highway, as in addition to the steep ascent at high elevation, travelers had to walk through knee-deep mud if it snowed or rained. The Edo Shogunal government spent 1,400 ryo to pave the road with stone for 10 km of the road. According to records, it was originally paved with local Hakone-dake bamboo, however, it needed to be regularly repaved as the bamboo would rot, costing a great deal of money every year. Now only 2 km of the original stone pavement remains. Enjoy imagining travel in the old days while walking along the original paved segment of the old highway.The mountain road is overgrown with trees, so an early morning start is recommended. When the weather is nice, the sunlight through the trees feels refreshing. Be careful as the stone pavement is slippery after it rains.
