This dedicated hall for prayer was constructed in 1998 to fulfill the wishes of many worshippers, making it the foremost Goma prayer hall in Nikko. In this esoteric Buddhist ritual, your prayers are conveyed to the Buddha through sacred fire. Goma prayers are performed daily and are open to all. They offer various benefits such as domestic tranquility, physical health, and prosperity in business. In the inner sanctuary of the Great Goma Hall, the principal image is the "Five Great Kings", surrounded by 30 statues of Buddhas and ancestral masters, including the "Seven Lucky Gods" and the "Twelve Heavenly Generals." Additionally, on the ceiling, you can find a magnificent painting of a "Great Ascending Dragon" that took two and a half years to complete. Kofukuji Temple in Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture, is a historic temple founded in 1460. For many years, it has been a beloved place of tranquility for local residents. The temple offers a variety of experiences, including traditional temple activities such as sutra copying and goma fire rituals, as well as more modern offerings like yoga (reservations are required) and lotus flower crafting. Everyone is welcome to participate. Despite its long history, Kofuku-ji Temple offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it a perfect destination for those interested in experiencing Japanese culture.  

This is a day trip onsen facility in Kinugawa Park that holding by Nikko City.It is said that the water from here is good for skin and has a beautifying effect.   Both men's and women's baths have open-air baths and indoor baths. The open-air baths are made of rocks, and the source water is abundant, so you can enjoy the seasonal flowers and plants, as well as the chirping of insects and birds, while enjoying the baths.   The view around the onsen is very beautiful, which makes visitors feel relax here. Nishinasuno Country Club is an 18-hole golf course designed by the globally renowned golf course architect, Robert Von Hagge, which effectively incorporates the beautiful landscape of Nishinasuno as its background. The course is like a piece of art created as if drawing a picture or writing a smooth melody on the 1.78 million square meters of land that spreads at the foot of the Nasu Mountain Range. If you always wanted to hit an iron shot on a bentgrass fairway and scrape off of a chunk of turf, this is the right course for you. With bentgrass, which is the highest-end grass, holes here are as beautiful as green carpets. Beginners can play comfortably here, but for championship-level players, the course requires higher-level golf techniques.

KAMAYA ~Café du Reverbere~ is a café restaurant. Dishes made with Mae Nikko Wagyu and Nikko Pork, and homemade sweets using strawberries produced in Nikko are popular here. There are also halal and vegan dishes. Renovated from a bank, the restaurant is designed as a retro-style café terrace with street lamps. It is only a one minute-walk away from the Tobu-nikko station, which is the gateway to the Nikko area. The restaurant mainly uses hand-picked local ingredients, including yuba, a specialty in Nikko. Most dishes served here are gluten-free. The restaurant’s recommendations are “NIKKO Donburi,” a rice bowl topped with a generous amount of local Mae Nikko Wagyu roast beef, and “THE NIKKO Hamburger Steak Set Using Mae Nikko Wagyu and Nikko Pork.” Both are popular dishes served daily while quantities last.

Onsen Ryokan Yamaki is a Japanese style inn built to help guests escape from the daily hustle and bustle and fully relax and heal the body and soul. The ryokan experience here is designed based on the principles of the tea ceremony: harmony, respect, purity, and calmness. These principles, as the ryokan’s philosophy, are also incorporated into its guest rooms, hot springs, meals, and staff hospitality. Calm guest rooms feature the warmth of wood and diatomaceous earth on walls. All guest rooms are designed differently, and some have a scenic cypress bath filled with hot spring water flowing endlessly from its original source. The hot spring here was discovered in 1059. History of "Shimazaki Brewery" The Shimazaki Brewery's history began in Kaei 2 (1849), and have continued to brew sake for more than 170 years. Using of the highest-grade raw rice, natural spring water from the Nasu Mountains, which have made Shimazaki Sake one of Tochigi Prefecture's best-known sake brewing brands.   History of Cave Brewery The Cave Brewery was originally a cave dug for the establishment of an underground chariot factory at the end of World War II, but the war ended before production could begin. After decades of inactivity, the cave became a natural cellar for Shimazaki Brewery to mature sake.   Features of Cave Brewery As the cave is completely protected from the sun, the temperature inside is maintained at around 50°F all year round, so it is advisable to bring a thin jacket to keep warm even in summer.   Inside the cave, you can see a whole row of matured sake that extends deep into the cave. Those are purchased by the consumer, stored by the brewery, and then handed back to the consumer after 5~20 years to commemorate important moments such as the coming-of-age ceremony, the birthday of family, or housewarming, and it is very popular. Murasakizuka Golf Club, designed by John Benzel and Bob Wolf (USA), features technically challenging authentic courses on a vast hilly area of 1.16 million square meters. The contrast in landscape produced by ponds and waterfalls allocated in various parts on the courses is quite popular. The golf club has three courses – Ujiie, Katsuragi, and Saotome – totaling 27 holes (par 108) and 10,396 yards in yardage. The courses are on gentle slopes with an elevation of 10 meters. There are also accommodation sites on the premises, and you can choose your favorite stay style from a hotel, villa, and glamping. The villa comes with a private hot spring bath for you to spend a relaxed time alone with your family and friends.

Meiji-No-Yakata is a restaurant remodeled from a villa built by an American merchant during the Meiji period (1868-1912). Japan at that time was just beginning to be introduced to Western culture. At the restaurant, you will see the fusion of Japanese and Western culture. The stone wall technique, used in construction of Japanese castles, was used to build the villa, and its interior was adorned with Western decor. Today, these features make the restaurant building very tasteful. Signature dishes are hamburger steak, omelet and rice (“omurice”), and hashed beef and rice (“hayashi rice”), which are all popular home-cooked dishes in Japan. The chef turns these dishes into masterpieces that you can experience only at Meiji-No-Yakata. Other strongly recommended dishes are multi-course meals featuring choice “Tochigi” steak using locally produced Tochigi Wagyu. Enjoy a relaxing dining experience in a classic atmosphere at Meiji-No-Yakata, a building selected as a cultural property, that transcends time and space.

Chuzenji Temple was established by Shodo Shonin in Nikko-zan in 784. Enshrining Nikko’s oldest Buddha statue, which is six-meters tall and was carved in a standing Japanese judas tree, the temple is a prayer temple (where visitors pray to the Buddha). Juzu, or prayer beads on a string, is one of the ritual items that people use to count how many times they have read a sutra or recited Buddha’s name. According to Siddhartha Gautama, praying to the Buddha repeatedly will remove earthly desires from people and make them happy. Those who visit to pay respect to the temple can join the prayer beads craft workshop. They can choose beads of their taste, made of natural stone and/or natural wood, with a wish in their minds to create a bracelet-shaped juzu. Their juzu becomes nenju when monks offer a prayer at the gomadan (fire ritual platform), and they can take it home as a wearable lucky charm.

Commonly, shakyo and shabutsu involve copying of the whole sutra or the whole image of the Buddha, but at Chuzenji Temple, we have prepared sheets of a sutra and an image that you can finish tracing within 15 to 20 minutes. In 16-character shakyo, you will trace a part of the Kannon Gyo sutra, written in light gray, with a brush pen. In shabutsu, you will trace the central area of the image of the Buddha, drawn in light gray, with a brush pen. In both practices, you will receive blessings by having your mind connected with the Buddha, feel relaxed both mentally and physically, and have the time to familiarize yourself with the Buddha and reflect on yourself. Time thus spent will be a priceless experience for you. After shakyo and shabutsu, you will be given a special red stamp as proof of paying respect to the temple and submitting the sutra/image. ※You can borrow a brush pen from the temple.
