On January 4 each year, the Musha Festival, an annual Shinto ritual in which arrows are shot toward Mount Akagi, is held at Futarasan Shrine's Chugu Shrine on the shore of Lake Chuzenji. It is based on a legend of Gods warfare, and is a tradition that has continued since the Muromachi period.   In the legend of the Gods battle, the deity of Mount Nantai in Nikko changed himself into a "giant snake," and the deity of Mount Akagi in Gunma changed into a "giant centipede" and fought over at Senjogahara. It is said that the deity of Mount Nantai won the warfare.   In accordance with the legend, the Guji (head of priests) stands on the Kamishimbashi and releases the first arrow, with a shout of "Ya" as a cold wind blows, followed by the priests and archers dressed in kariginu, who shoot arrows one after another in the direction of Mount Akagi in this heroic ritual.

Selected as the only one for Japan in "CNN’ Top 10 Dream destinations for 2014" the Ashikaga Flower Park will be holding its "The Tale of the Wisteria~ Large Wisteria Festival".   The size of the park is a substantial 94,000㎡, and boasts over 350 wisteria trees, allowing visitors to enjoy the sheer abundance of the beautiful flowers in bloom. Various colors of wisteria bloom in order, from pale pink, purple, white, to yellow,which allows you to enjoy all of the wisterias for about one full month.   A wisteria shelf spanning 1,000㎡ is for the 150 year old large wisteria tree with a 80m long tunnel of white wisterias. An extremely rare double-petal wisteria shelf, and the white wisteria tunnel.   It has also a beautiful light-up wisteria at night.  

Experience a refreshing breeze and white sea spray while catching Ayu sweetfish with a traditional fishing weir called a yana. And afterward, enjoy the enticing aroma and crunchy skin of salted, charcoal-grilled Ayu and “Ayu kamameshi,” a traditional Japanese rice dish.

One of the Imaichi area’s most popular events is its annual fireworks display， Over 5000 Shot Fireworks， which various types of fireworks decorate the night sky over the Daiya River.  

One of the largest in mainland Japan, the park is known for its 280,000 beautiful Shibazakura in bloom from mid-April to May, covering an area of 1.8 hectares. A must-see is the panoramic view of the floral carpet from the observatory, where various shades of red, white, mauve and pink lawn cherry blossoms form beautiful patterns. You can taste handmade soba noodles at the restaurant in the park. Local vegetables and Shibazakura plants are available at the farmer's market.

200，000 azaleas over 23 hectares bloom on the hillside of the Nasu highlands， 1，100 metres above sea level. The best viewing season is mid-to-late May. The slopes of Mt.Nasu provide a full view of this incredible landscape. The fields of pink are nothing short of spectacular. A wooden walkway (accessible by disabled visitors) winds its way through flowering bushes allowing a close-up look and over a one-hour course.

Nasu Onsen-kyo is a spread out hot spring resort on the slopes of Mt. Nasudake，the main peak of the Nasu mountains. The origin of the Onsen-kyo is “Shikanoyu” discovered in the 7th century.The “Shikanoyu(deer spring)” was named after locals witnessed an injured deer completely heal after jumping into the steaming pool. It's been renowned for its healing powers ever since. Historic visitors include Yoritomo Minamoto，a great samurai of 12th century，and Basho Matsuo，a famous poet of 17th century. Onsen styles vary from modern hotels in the highland to traditional wooden baths where you can try bathing in more than one spot to feel the difference.

The three-day hot-air balloon race is held close by the Watarase reservoir at the beginning of December. You can see dozens of hot-air balloons rising up the sky. Feast your eyes on brightly-coloredballoons filled with heated air.

The Nasu Teddy Bear Museum exhibits teddy bears created by 100 artists from all over the world in order to further cultivate teddy bear culture. The museum building is modeled after a British manor house. You’ll find a collection that includes “artist bears” based on artists from around the world, as well as antique bears and Teddy Edward, the teddy bear that has traveled the most around the world. There are also planned exhibitions. The teddy bear museum features the works of Studio Ghibli into the museum as well as famous teddy bears. One of the museum highlights is the full-sized Cat Bus from My Neighbor Totoro. Unlike the Ghibli Museum that can only accommodate small children on the cat bus, even adult tourists can hop on and take pictures of this iconic bus. In addition, there’s a museum shop with a variety of teddy bear goods, as well as a tea room with teddy bear-themed menu items."

One of the largest museums of ceramics with Imari and Nabeshima collections in the world. Here， on the outskirts of Ashikaga， on 24.5 acres chosen for its picturesque scenery and taking advantage of nature， is a garden of mainly wild grass. In the garden is the main museum building， a historical building， a memorial church for unknown potters， and the pottery hall as well as the main gate， and the Holland Hall. A large feature of the museum is that it displays only Imari and Nabeshima pottery wares of the Edo period  created by the Nabeshima clan."

3x3 basketball, now recognized as an official Olympic sport, is showcased at its highest level in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour—an international series organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to determine the world’s best 3x3 club team. The 2025 season will span across 15 cities worldwide. The top teams from the tour will advance to the World Tour Final, where the global champion will be crowned. Featuring the previous year’s champions and top-ranked teams from around the world, this tournament represents the pinnacle of 3x3 basketball competition. Since 2016, the city of Utsunomiya has continuously hosted the FIBA 3x3 World Tour. Beginning in 2022, Utsunomiya was selected to kick off the season as the host of the Utsunomiya Opener, and will continue to do so through 2028—marking seven consecutive years as the opening venue. The 2025 Utsunomiya Opener is scheduled to take place over three days, from Friday, April 25 to Sunday, April 27. The venue for the event is the historic Utsunomiya Futaarayama Shrine, said to have over 1,600 years of history. A special 3x3 court will be set up in front of the shrine’s grand torii gate, creating a striking fusion of tradition and modern sports culture. Japanese elements such as mikoshi (portable shrines) will be featured to further enhance the atmosphere and share the unique spirit of "3x3 City Utsunomiya" with the world. In 2024, the local team UTSUNOMIYA BREX.EXE competed in the Utsunomiya Opener as the host city representative. They made history by advancing through the qualifiers to the final tournament stage for the second consecutive year—a first for any Japanese team. In the knockout stage, they faced off against UB (Serbia), the reigning champions of both the 2022 and 2023 World Tours. Although they were defeated 22–11, the team showed tremendous strength and determination in their battle against the world’s best.

A famous temple built in Muromachi period Daioji Temple belongs to Soto Zen and has over 600 years history. Buildings in the temple are almost thatching that remain the Muromachi architectural style, 7 of these are designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan. This temple is nearby the Kurobane Castle Park, and was protected by Ozeki clan who ruled Kurobane domain during Edo period.   16 Arhat Statues that have different expressions Walking on Daioji Temple’s stone steps, visitors can find 16 Arhat Statues stand around the step. Nakagawa Onsen is a mountain hot spring resort that is close to Lake Tanzawa, it has a long history. There is a legend that about 400 years ago, Takeda Shingen helped a soldier recover who was injured in a battle with Hojo Ujiyasu by bathing in this hot spring, therefore it is also called "Shingen's secret bath". It is a simple hot spring with the water quality high in PH, it is said to be effective for gastrointestinal diseases, neuralgia, rheumatism, hypertension, recovery of wounds, etc. It is also said to be good for your skin, it is widely known as a "beauty bath" that makes your skin smooth.
