Torinoko Sansho Shrine consists of a main hall, a worship hall, a tower gate, a Torii gate (at the prefectural border of Tochigi and Ibaraki) and the main shrine. The shrine is known for its lucky owl, a messenger from the god who brings good luck. The temple complex contains the nation’s largest statue of an owl, an owl post, an owl bell and an owl statue on which visitors pour water to wash their troubles away. Other notable sites include a miraculous turtle well that has never dried up and the building known as Gochiin where famous feudal lord Mitsukuni Tokugawa once stayed.

On a clear day, you can see Mount Fuji over Sagami Bay. On December 17th and 18th, the first daruma fair of the season in the Kanto Region is held at Iizumizan Shōfuku-ji Temple, the 5th amulet issuing temple of the Bando Sanjusankasho. The daruma-selling stores line the temple grounds and bustle with families. Those who attend pray for business prosperity and the wellbeing of their families.

Drive in to Cape Manazuru located at the tip of the Manazuru Peninsula Prefectural Nature Park. From Cape Manzuru, you can enjoy a view of the Izu Peninsula, Shonan, Boso Peninsula and Izu Seven Islands. The panorama stretching out to the sea is a highlight not to be missed.

In the park, there’s a golf course and a barbecue pit where everyone young and old can enjoy themselves. At the tip of the park, there is an observatory where you can enjoy a view of Hatsushima island and Oshima island.

It was built in the early Showa era and relocated and restored in 1991 to the Minoge district of Hadano City. In April 2020, it was registered as a national tangible cultural property as a relic related to leaf tobacco cultivation. It is an important building for learning about farmhouse architecture in the early Showa era. The structure is in an architectural style typical of tobacco farmers at the time, with four rooms in the shape of a square. Agricultural tools and daily necessities are also displayed on the dirt floor, making it a valuable learning facility. We also offer villager experiences, rice harvesting, moon-viewing parties, etc. There are also regular hikes around the area.

Constructed around 1927 (Showa 2) using a design by Kichizo Asaka, this communal residence was built for foreign residents. Originally, there were four identical apartments in the building, with the apartments on either side of the central entrance porch mirroring each other. Currently, the second floor is used for gallery exhibitions, meetings, etc.

Just a short walk from Keikyu Kawasaki Station, you can try your hand at making "Kiriko", a traditional glass craft, at a workshop located along the old Tokaido road at the ruins of a Kawasaki post. Visitors can choose from a variety of glasses and plates and consult with the studio to find their favorite design, so even beginners can try their hand at faceting. Take your creations home as souvenirs!The classroom nestled within an aesthetic building that was renovated from an old liquor wholesaler. You will use two types of grinders to sharpen the glass, but even beginners can feel at ease as each class is held in small groups, with careful and detailed instruction. 

The Lake Chuzenji Boat House comprises buildings restored precisely from the time they were built as the waterfront resort around 1950 by the Chuzenji lakeside known for its prosperous history as an international summer resort. It is a recess facility to enjoy the rich nature and water of the lakeside as well as enjoying the relaxing moment in the beautiful landscape of Lake Chuzenji.

The Tsunashima Cherry Blossom Festival is held at Tsunashima Park, a 7-minute walk from Tsunashima Station, which can be accessed within 30 minutes from both Shibuya and Yokohama. Local neighborhood associations set up booths at the festival site, and the local shopping district provides a great deal of festival collaboration and fun. A flea market is also held, making the event atmosphere very lively. Performances such as traditional Japanese dances, koto playing, modern dance, awadori, and others can be enjoyed on the central stage. The Hakone Old Highway was once part of the Tokaido Highway, established by the Edo Shogunate at the beginning of the Edo period (1603-1867), and was known as the most difficult part of the Tokaido Highway to cross, stretching roughly 32km from Odawara-juku to Mishima-juku via Hakone-juku by Lake Ashi. Even today, some of the roadways from those days remain on the east (Hakone Town and Odawara City) and west (Mishima City and Kannami Town) sides of Mt. Hakone, where stone-paved paths, rows of pine and cedar trees, distance milestones, and even a reconstructed Hakone Sekisho (barrier) can still be seen. The cedar trees, which are found only along Lake Ashi, are believed to have been planted because they were suited to the climate of Mt. Hakone, whereas most of the trees along the highway are pine trees. Walking among the rows of cedar trees, some of which are more than 350 years old and some of which have grown up to 30 to 40 meters high, you are sure to experience the ancient highway as if an Edo-era traveler.This hiking path, as well as Hakone Shrine, are the two best places to see magnificent cedar trees. Descending is easier than the climb, but is tough on the knees.
