This historical temple, which holds numerous cultural assets, was built in 829. The main hall has held numerous cultural events. The kitchen, which is a registered tangible cultural property, can hold meetings, receptions, etc., while the temple precincts can be used to stage outdoors events.

This is the site of Motegi Castle during the Kamakura Period, and today it is a park that is the symbol of Motegi Town. From the small hill overlooking the center of town, you can see Sakasa River and the steam locomotives running behind the smoke. In spring, various types of cherry blossoms bloom one after another, allowing you to enjoy flower viewing for about a month. In autumn (mid-September to early October), the entire southern slope of Shiroyama Park is dyed bright red with approximately 550,000 red spider lilies, a delight to visitors. It is rare to see a cluster of red spider lilies growing on a slope, and many photographers gather here as they can take photos from a different angle than on the flat land.

Named after Nikko’s former Gyoushintei Monastery, this restaurant is the gateway to Nikko city's over 1,200 years historical specialization in Buddhist cuisine. Its uniquely-flavored traditional Gozen-ryori is prepared in the Shinjo Shinryu style, which only uses vegetables, grains, and soybean-based products like yuba and tofu, making it completely vegetarian. The three-day hot-air balloon race is held close by the Watarase reservoir at the beginning of December. You can see dozens of hot-air balloons rising up the sky. Feast your eyes on brightly-coloredballoons filled with heated air.

Come experience sutra copying at Anrakuji Temple (2-6-1 Okada, Samukawa-cho) on the second Sunday of every month (From 15:00, closed May and August). We have several chairs available, so those who are not comfortable sitting on the floor are more than welcome to join in. Our temple is said to have been built during the Yoro period (710-794), and our main statue of Dainichi Nyorai is a Buddhist image dating back to the Heian period (794-1192). On the hill behind the main hall remains "Ojinzuka," a late 4th-century round backward-facing burial mound, of which you can climb to the top to view Mt. Fuji and be enveloped by the power of ancient prayer.

It is a 700 meter walking trail by the coastline at the tip of Manazuru peninsula. You can enjoy walking while overlooking Sagami Bay and Mitsuishi Shore.
