Watarase Yusuichi (Watarase Wetlands) is one of the biggest wetland in Japan and has protected the lives and properties of urban areas from floods. It is also the treasure house for many species of animals and plants including endangered flora and fauna species and was registered to the Ramsar Convention Wetlands. Yoshi-yaki is done every year to get rid of the worms in Yoshi and to prevent the bush fires from spreading to nearby houses as well as to protect the invaluable wetland environment. The smoke， dust and ashes from Yoshi-yaki may be wide-spread due to the wind or up-current of the air and may blow onto surrounding properties. Please watch out for laundry hung outdoors and be aware when opening or closing windows."

Nasu Safari Park is located in Nasu highlands which is popular as a resort in Tochigi and 70 kinds of 700 animals are in captivity here.  You can go round the vast premise of the park by a car or a lion bus where large animals live， can observe them closely， and can also enjoy feeding the herbivorous animals. From spring to autumn， the park opens a night safari and you can observe nocturnal animals like lions or tigers."

This local specialty shop is located in the Tochigi Honcho Godo Building. The shop carries a wide selection of specialty products， traditional crafts， and local liquors from Tochigi Prefecture. The shop also provides tourist information."

A tourist information center in Tochigi City. It now sells Tochigi specialties including pickled goods， miso， soba flour， and rice crackers and there's a restaurant that serves soba noodles on the first floor. You can also buy goods featuring Tochigi's mascot character， Tochisuke."

Visitors at this leisure facility can enjoy watching monkeys act in plays， do street performances， and more. It is famous for having produced Taro and Jiro， a trainer-monkey pair that was once the star of many TV commercials. In addition to the exhibit areas， the facility also a number of attractions where visitors can play with the monkeys. The area where visitors can take a photo while holding baby Japanese macaques is gaining popularity."

This park is located in Mikamoyama which is mentioned in the famous Manyoshu collection of poetry. The park has fun facilities for all ages including the Adventure Forest and Wanpaku Playground for children as well as an herb garden. You can also board the Flower Train for a trip through the park around Mikamoyama. And with a variety of nature trails and hiking courses the park is popular with those looking to hike or just explore the outdoors."

The Oyama Honba Yuki Tsumugi Craft Museum offers visitors the experience of wearing an elegant kimono made from the fine silk textile “Yuki Tsumugi”. The process of refining the traditional Yuki Tsumugi silk is inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In order to allow people to fully appreciate the comfort of their garments the museum provides all-day kimono rental including kimono and obi with dressing assistance included free. Come and experience the light and warm texture of genuine Yuki Tsumugi!

Coco Farm and Winery offers tours of the winery， a fine selection of wines and food prepared with freshly picked local vegetables. Enjoy lunch at the restaurant with an incredible view of the vineyards. Stroll up to the hill top with a glass of wine in hand and sit back and relax under white parasols to enjoy sunshine! The stylish bottles available in the shop are perfect for souvenirs. Or why not stay overnight at one of the local Ashikaga hotels after a day of exploring?

One of the largest in mainland Japan, the park is known for its 280,000 beautiful Shibazakura in bloom from mid-April to May, covering an area of 1.8 hectares. A must-see is the panoramic view of the floral carpet from the observatory, where various shades of red, white, mauve and pink lawn cherry blossoms form beautiful patterns. You can taste handmade soba noodles at the restaurant in the park. Local vegetables and Shibazakura plants are available at the farmer's market.

Originally flourished as a post station in the 17th century， Tochigi city later developed into a merchant city on the banks of the Uzuma River. The river was an important trade route to and from Edo (Tokyo). The black merchant houses and white-walled storehouses can still be seen along the Uzuma River and on Kura-no-Machi Oh-dori (the main street). Go for a stroll and feel the classical atmosphere!

Founded in 1192, Yakumo Shrine is affectionately called “Yakumo-sama” by local residents, reflecting its deep ties with the community. The shrine is dedicated to Susanoo-no-Mikoto, and visitors pray here for physical health, recovery from illness, safe travels, and protection from misfortune. Worshippers even come from afar to pay their respects. In addition to Susanoo-no-Mikoto, the shrine also enshrines Daikoreishin (Hosokawa Okimoto, the founder of the Mogi branch of the Hosokawa clan) as an associated deity. Within the shrine office and the Shushuden Hall (a resting place for parishioners), visitors can see displays of historical materials, including the armor helmet once bestowed upon the Hosokawa clan by Oda Nobunaga. Yakumo Shrine is also known as the guardian shrine of traffic safety and is closely associated with “TWIN RING MOTEGI.” During major motor races, both staff and drivers come to pray here for victory and safety.

The popular café chain Nikko Coffee, beloved by fans across Japan, opened its Nishisando branch in March 2020! In summer, visitors can enjoy shaved ice made with natural ice, while in mid-October, the shop also offers delicious treats like wagyu beef buns. With a concept of “Good things from Nikko, good things from Japan,” Nikko Coffee not only serves rich, aromatic coffee, but also sells handcrafted goods from Nikko and Tochigi Prefecture, as well as carefully selected items delivered from all over Japan.

Yana is a trap to catch sweetfish that swim down the river to lay their eggs. The trap is a screen made with finely divided and stripped bamboo placed on a bamboo scaffolding where the water flow is blocked in a V-shaped depression. Ooseyana in Motegi Town in Tochigi boasts the largest yana trap among many traps placed on the Naka River. What’s most entertaining about yana fishing is that you can catch sweetfish while feeling the powerful flow of the Naka River over your feet. The catch is largest between the second half of September and the end of October. At the restaurant, you can savor freshwater fish dishes such as grilled sweetfish with a sprinkle of salt and deep-fried sweetfish while enjoying the river view.

Lake Chuzenji is located in the area leading into Okunikko. It has a circumference of 25 km and the water reaches a depth of 163 m. It is said that lava from the eruption of Mount Nantai 20,000 years ago blocked the valley to create the initial form of the lake. Because of the spectacular view in each season, the lakeside area used to be a popular summer retreat for foreigners. That areas still features the Italian Embassy Villa Memorial Park and British Embassy Villa Memorial Park. The pleasure boat of the Tobu Chuzenjiko Cruise sails through the beautiful scenery and near these tourist destinations. In fall, you can see mountains covered in explosions of red, orange, and yellow from the lake. It is truly a picturesque view. The tour takes about 55 minutes in total, but there are tickets available for visitors to get on/off along the course.

Royal Meadow Golf Club is a very strategic course with beautiful views designed under supervision of the professional golfer, Ryo Ishikawa. The Royal Meadow Cup for 2024 JLPGA STEP UP TOUR took place here. Following the basic golf course design, you can see where your first shot goes from the tee, and you can see the green from where you make your second shot. It is a highly strategic course having multiple tees to match each player’s skill level. At the same time, the course is designed to be flat with each hole's elevation being 10 meters or less. You will be challenged by tricky water hazards and sand bunkers. Royal Meadow Golf Club has accommodations that are very popular among visitors from far. Please stay the night before playing and wake up to a relaxing morning.

Nikko Takaiya, the Japanese restaurant, opened in 1805. At the request of shrines and temples in Nikko (Nikko Toshogu, Nikko Futarasan-jinja, and Nikkozan Rinno-ji), we have been preparing dishes for their festivals for over 200 years. Today, the Nikko specialty ‘yuba’ dishes are quite popular among tourists. Our guests include the Imperial Family, cultural figures, and generations of local customers. In late March, Japan's most famous variety of cherry blossom, Someiyoshino, will begin to bloom, coloring the city with its delicate pink flowers. But in Oyama City, the special local variety, Omoigawa-zakura, makes Oyama different. Omigawa-zakura were found in a garden at a local monastery about 70 years ago. Beacause the Omigawa bloom about a week after the Somei Yoshino, meaning visitors can enjoy cherry blossoms for almost a month. Get ready to experience the beauty of Oyama City this spring.
