The Ohtaki Kasen Yuhodo is a strolling path that runs for approximately 1 kilometer from the Kinuiwabashi bridge at the upper reaches of the Kinugawa River down to the Kamitakikasen Park. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the riverbank as you listen to the gentle babbling of the Kinugawa River. The Otaki Park is located along the route, and on a clear day you can see all the way to Mt. It is an operating open surface quarry of Oya stone. Next to the quarry are a stone processing plant, a stone waste dump and the mountain owner’s residence and office. Yakushiji Hachimangu Shrine

Yakushiji Hachimangu Shrine is also referred to as "Hachiman for warding off misfortune and disaster" and attracts a large number of worshippers.It was also known as the patron saint of the Genji and is known as a shrine where prayers are answered as Minamoto no Yoriyoshi and Minamoto no Yoshiie pracyed for victory in battle there. The shrine has long served as a patron saint for successive feudal lords and a center of faith for the people."

Daichuji Temple

Daichuji Temple is a temple which is famous as the place where Uesugi Kenshin and Hojyo Ujiyasu made peace in 1568. This famous Buddhist temple's main gate is a rare example of ancient temple architecture. The grounds also include seven legendary "wonders": A hearth kept constantly lit to ward away a ghost; a set of stairs whose use is prohibited because they are said to bring bad luck; the "rootless" wisteria which grew from a cane; a well which is said to make the sound of horse hooves and neighing; a haunted toilet; a mountain to the east of the temple from which the sound of a wooden clapper can be heard by the head priest when danger threatens the temple; and a room where it is said that if you sleep in it, you will awaken lying in the opposite direction you fell asleep in. The history of the temple goes far beyond this however as it was originally built more than 800 years ago. The temple had the confidence of Tokugawa Ieyasu during the Edo period, and until the end of the Edo period was in a position of command as first among 3 leading temple at the head of the Soto sect. The temple is also home to a 200m path to the temple which is lined with hydrangeas and is spoken of in the Seven Wonders of the World and is also one of the "Tochigi Top 100 Scenic Places"."

Mahoroba no Yu Yushinkan

This day-trip hot spring is in Nasu County, Tochigi Prefecture. Along with an expansive indoor bath there's an open-air bath to enjoy while looking at the Nasu Mountain Range and listening to the Nakagawa River. The spring is a sodium - sulfate chloride spring and it is known to help with strokes. In addition to baths, Yushinkan has a large banquet hall and smaller halls, a relaxation corner, restaurant, snack corner and more.Do make sure to stop by for a visit."

This large gardening shop complex is located on 400,000 meters of hilly land known by locals as "Moroyama." Ooyaji Temple(Ooya Kannon)

Ooyaji Temple(Ooya Kannon)

The beginning of Ooyaji Temple Nearby the Utsunomiya City, the Ooyaji Temple has been built surrounded by a cavern. Within the temple are 10 stone carvings of buddha carved directly into the cavern wall including Japan’s oldest statue of the goddess Kannon (the Oya thousand-armed Kannon).   It is said that long time ago, a venomous snake was living in the Oya area and every creatures were killed by its poison. In A.D. 810, a famous monk Kukai Daishi heard this story and stayed at this area for a few days. When he left, he told people that the snake would never come back again. People found that there was a Senju Kannon (also known as Ooya Kannon) carved into the cavern, and built this temple for thanking Kukai Daishi.   Symbol of Japan's Silk Road, the Ooya Kannon In recent study, scholars had found some similarities between Ooya Kannon and the Buddhas of Bamiyan. Lake Ikari

Lake Ikari is a reservoir on the Ojikagawa River, downstream of Yunishigawa Dam.The lake's name, which means ""50 'ri' lake,"" is derived from the fact the lake is located 50 'ri' from Nihonbashi in Edo. During the fall foliage season from mid-October to early November, the lake and the fiery leaves of the trees on its shore create a beautiful contrast, attracting large numbers of visitors. Around May 5th each year, koinobori carp streamers can be seen ""swimming"" as they are flown from the top of Ikari Dam.""

The residence of Sadajiro Kubo, an art critic connected with Moka City, has been given new form as a tourism center. There are a total of five buildings here, which include a Tourism Product Promotion Center and an Italian restaurant, in addition to historical buildings consisting of an Art Exhibition Hall built in 1923, a Tourism Town Development Center built in 1879, and the Kubo Memorial Hall built in 1907.

Mamada Kumihimo Braid-making Experience

Mamada Kumihimo is a traditional Japanese cord created by hand braiding. The cords were used in the armour of Samurai warriors long ago. Today the silk woven cords have a wide range of uses such as bolo ties, obi-himo ties used to secure the obi of women’s kimonos and haori-himo ties in the men and women wear short coats over their kimonos. Try your hand at making your own strap with the vegetable-dyed, pure silk threads made from domestically grown cocoons at a traditional Mamada cord shop.

Irohazaka

Irohazaka

Irohazaka is a pair of winding roads (ascending and descending) connecting Nikko-city and the mountainous Lake Chuzenji area. The roads are named after the 48 syllables of the Japanese alphabet (kana) as they contain 48 hairpin turns while rising and falling 440 metres in elevation. The best viewing spot is the Akechidaira observatory on the descending road. The picturesque landscape is known as the most beautiful place to celebrate autumn leaves in Nikko, and it is well worth putting up with the traffic on the roads at this popular time.

Kinugawa Onsen “Oni” Festival

Setsubun Season – Celebrating with “Oni” from Around the World to Pray for Good Fortune and Drive Away Evil The Kinugawa Onsen “Oni” Festival (Shōfuku Oni Matsuri) is a winter celebration that combines the “Oni” in Kinugawa’s name with Japan’s Setsubun traditions. Held annually from late January to late February, the entire Kinugawa Onsen area becomes a festive stage where people and “oni” dance together to bring good luck and ward off evil. With the theme “Demons of the World Gather in Kinugawa – Humans and Oni Join in Festive Exorcism,” the event is both a blessing ceremony and a lively, family-friendly celebration. One of the highlights is the “SL Shōfuku Oni Train,” where participants dressed as oni ride a steam locomotive and interact with adorable local mascot characters like “Kinuta,” “Kinu-chan,” and “Kawa-chan.” Visitors can also enjoy taiko drum performances, monkey shows, chainsaw wood carving, demon-themed food, cultural experiences, and stamp rally games. It’s one of Kinugawa’s most vibrant seasonal events during the Setsubun period.
