Morito Brewery is a traditional sake brewery that places high value on the rice grown in-house in the vast rice plantations surrounding the brewery, the Shojinzawa water which has been chosen as one of Japan's top 100 water sources, and the handiwork of the local Toji brew master, ensuring the preservation of the traditional taste of their sake. The brewery offers a variety of sake flavors including their original sake made with a combination of the hand-produced sake brewing techniques of the past and the best parts of modern sake brewing technology.

Iizukatei

Iizukatei, the hotel renovated from a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan, operates based on the notion that Iizukatei, a building having over 100 years of history renovated into a high quality accommodation using the latest technology and stylish equipment, together with restaurants and shops in town, make up the whole hotel stay experience. Guests are invited to try a new type of hotel stay in which they are immersed in the genuine Japanese lifestyle through interactions with town residents. This tourist information center located in Nasushiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture provides explanations and guidance for the nature and promenade in Shiobara, and operates various walking plans. For example, it coordinates nature walking plans corresponding to the season and members, hikes with park conductors and nature learning activities. In addition, the visitor center has a rest corner where you can rest yourself after walking."

Emperor’s Room Memorial Park

Emperor’s Room Memorial Park

Emperor’s Memorial Park is a recreation of the former Shiobara Imperial Villa which was used as a summer resort for the imperial family. The villa was originally owned by Michitsune Mishima, the Governor of Tochigi Prefecture at that time, and was later offered to the Imperial Household Ministry in 1904. It was visited by Imperial family members including Emperors Meiji, Taisho and Showa and Princes Chichibu, Takamatsu and Mikasa. During the World War II, Princesses of Emperor Showa evacuated from Tokyo to this villa. After the war the villa was transferred to the Ministry of Welfare. Today, the Tenno-no-ma room, which was relocated to the current location in 1981, is open to the public with its beautiful garden. In the building there are a variety of materials that show the life of the Imperial household such as their stationeries, documents and photographs along with furnishings."

Yugyo willow Tree

Yugyo willow Tree

A huge willow tree standing amidst a tranquil, rural landscape. The renowned poet Saigyo spied willow while on a journey and wrote a haiku about standing in its shade on the side of the road amidst the pure waters flowing through the surrounding rice paddies. Later, the playwright Kanze Nobumitsu wrote a play based on this poem, making the willow famous. The famed poet Basho also wrote about this willow in his “Narrow Road to the Interior,” described its moving beauty. Monuments inscribed with poems by Saigyo, Basho, and Buson have been placed next to the tree."

Roadside Station Meiji no Mori Kuroiso

Roadside Station Meiji no Mori/Kuroiso was opened as a roadside station when improvements were made to the Aoki Nasu Bettei second home on a 7.5-hectare lot. This roadside station is located on the side of the Kuroiso-Tajima Route (Prefectural Route 369), which runs through Nasushiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture. It features farmer's market that offers fresh produce, local eggs, and dairy products,restaurant, a bakery, and more. It is located adjacent to the Former Aoki Family Nasu Villa. This villa that belonged to Aoki Shuzo is a nationally-designated Important Cultural Property."

Akechidaira Plateau

Akechidaira Plateau

Located near the top of (2nd) Irohazaka Slope, Akechidaira Plateau has sweeping views over a winding road and a dramatic mountain backdrop. This 3-minute long ropeway cable car ride takes you from the Akechidaira Plateau to an observation platform located at 1373m, offering superb panoramic views of the Nikko area, including Kegon Falls, Lake Chuzenji, Mt. Nantai, and the surrounding mountains in the distance. The vista is especially beautiful during the change of colors in the autumn, and during cherry blossom season. It is said this "Akechidaira" area, which offers the best view in all of Nikko, takes its name from Akechi Mitsuhide who assassinated Oda Nobunaga during the famous Honnoji Temple incident."

Steam Locomotive Taiju

Steam Locomotive Taiju

This steam locomotive, called “Taiju”, has been operating since August 2017. “Taiju” is also known as the other name of the Tokugawa Shogun, who is enshrined at Nikko Toshogu Shrine. Tobu Railway, with its network from the Asakusa area in Tokyo to this Kinugawa Onsen area, was once called one of the biggest “kingdoms of steam locomotives”, as it used to operate as many as 85 steam locomotives mainly for forwarding freight. How about enjoying a ride on Taiju on the way to your sightseeing destination? All seats on the Taiju are reserved and can be purchased at Tobu Tourist Information Center Asakusa on the first floor of Asakusa Station, website,or Tobu Railway Line Stations. Shimoimaichi Station and Kinugawa Onsen Station are equipped with railway turntables where you can enjoy watching a dynamic steam locomotive in front of you!

Koisagoyaki Pottery Experience

Try your hand at painting, hand building and wheel throwing at the Koisagoyaki Pottery Experience Centre “Toyu-kan”. Using local clay, visitors can enjoy a therapeutic and creative experience within natural surroundings. The spacious centre with a capacity of up to 100 is perfect for groups. Koisagoyaki is a historic gold-glazed ceramic art and is officially recognised as one of prefecture’s traditional crafts. The Koisago area in Nakagawa-machi is the home of Koisagoyaki pottery and a member of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages in Japan. One of the famous Koisagoyaki potteries, Fujita Pottery was featured on NHK Television’s travel programme in 2016.
